Love that they specialize in Hunan dishes! They have lots of dishes to choose from and each dish is categorized by protein on their menu. The interior is beautiful with wooden tables and festive lanters. It wasn't too busy while there and the dishes aren't one serving. The serving is more of like a meal that needs to be shared. The food was decent and definitely flavorful. I got the Mao braised pork belly and was hoping for it to be even softer than I had it. I'm grateful for the steamed veggies they had also. One thing about the service I received. One staff gave awesome recommendations, and said we can definitely split the bill, however another staff said they don't split the bill and couldn't accept 2 forms of payment (cash and card) that made no sense and there was no explanation for it. He shared we can only pay with either cash or card only. And suggested we pay each other by zelle, which I found hilarious and eye goggling. Hopefully they can fix this and be able to accommodate others or put up a sign stating this so we are aware. Also where I sat I'm able to look back and into the kitchen if they don't close the door. There were people prepping the food and eating food at the same time while cutting veggies. 😬 There was an older man who worked there who walled up behind our table to grab a drink and also let out the loudest burp, EWWW. That might be part of their custom, idk. It honestly grossed me out though and I don't feel open to trying...
Read moreFood was great! 5/5 The shrimp fried rice tasted very fresh and came out pretty quick. The chow mein had good amount of crunchy veggies and a flavorful sauce. The salt and pepper chicken was fried to perfection in a light and airy batter that resembled tempura. We were so hungry we forgot to take a pic before eating so the pictures are after we had our fill and the aftermath.
Service 2/5 for the initial treatment as we walked in. We arrived an hour before closing and told to wait at the front while the server said he will go ask the chef if it were okay. He came back a short while later and said the chef gave the okay for us order. About 20 minutes later, a party of 3 arrived and they were immediately seated without the server having to ask the chef if they could order. The only difference between us and them is that they were Asian and we are African-American.
Edit:// As I was about to post this, a different server came up and said "I know it was edgy when you guys first walked in. It's just that our regular menu closes at 9:30pm and our skewer menu is open until 10:30pm". My thought to that is this: the original server who asked the chef if it were okay for us to order had no idea if we were ordering the regular menu or skewers. He saw us walk in and immediately said he had to go ask if it were okay.
Overall, I had a great dinner with my husband as we were celebrating our anniversary and in a...
Read moreOne of the weirdest experiences I’ve had at a restaurant in this area. The staff didn’t take our order for the longest time, when there were only 3 or 4 other tables with customers. There was a woman sitting at a table in front of us who was literally smoking a cigarette (the whole restaurant smelled like stale smoke). The food was okay - We got salt and pepper chicken that was way too salty, albeit, overall flavor was good and it was nice and crispy. We also got some shrimp fried rice; this was also okay, flavor was a bit lacking and it only had a few tiny pieces of shrimp in it.
When we were trying to leave and pay at the counter, the worker just sat there on his phone texting while we just stood there waiting for him to finish before he took care of us. The restaurant dynamic seemed like a family owned restaurant in that everyone knew each other, but they were a bit too lax and came off really unprofessional. The lady smoking in the restaurant and the smell of stale smoke was really what ruined this...
