Escape on Main — Attraction in Saint Charles

This is an EXCELLENT escape room. First of all, the location is fantastic. Parking is usually a nightmare on Main Street, but this place is perfectly located in the 300 block, so it is super close to the parking lot, and also across from the Baked Bear for when you're ready for your victory ice cream. The rooms themselves are great. We did the pirate treasure one, and the room really had a pirate-ship feel to it. Probably because the room is in an historic building, but whatever, it was awesome. The puzzles are challenging. We used all of our clues in order to escape, and the clues were enough to give you a nudge, but not necessarily to give the answer away. You really had to think in a variety of different ways in order to solve this, so I definitely recommend bringing multiple friends.

The staff was super nice and very fun to work with. They didn't try to rush us out after we were done, and our game coordinator even took pictures for us. You can tell these are people who really enjoy being a part of this experience.

Absolutely horrible customer service. The owner was super rude immediately upon picking up the phone. We were being delayed from a previous event and couldn’t make our start time which was exactly at the same time they open (11 a.m.) We tried to call from multiple numbers starting more than an hour in advance and again 10 minutes before they opened but we weren’t able to get ahold of anyone since it was closed. When I called as soon as they opened, I apologized that we were being delayed at another event and simply asked if it was possible to reschedule for later in the day or another day in the week. He was instantly angry that I was calling at the start of the reservation, though we weren’t able to get a hold of anyone any sooner since they were closed and the delay was outside of our control. He refused to make any other kind of arrangement and was generally rude and aggressive the entire call. Zero holiday cheer with this owner. I never asked for a refund but him refusing that was the last words I heard before I told him he didn’t need to be a jerk and...

I am a breakout room enthusiast and have been to many in lots of different locations. I was with friends who were beginners so we chose a beginner level room. When we walked in the employee was on her phone and didn’t put it down when she noticed us. She was rude and clearly didn’t want to be there. She was short with us and did not make the experience fun. When asking for a clue she was slow to respond and the clue she gave us for the final puzzle was awful- made it harder to solve. The room had a great theme and many of the puzzles were spot on! The final puzzle was almost impossible, definitely not beginner level and another poker chip stack puzzle was equally as impossible to solve. Most escape rooms have you take a picture at the end win or lose and they didn’t, a missed opportunity. We did love the signing of the walls- very fun!! Overall we had fun despite the employee but the room could use some tweaking on...
