The St. Louis Park Recreation Center (aka The ROC) was a well conditioned skating facility. It has 2 indoor sheets of ice as well as a covered but not enclosed outdoor rink. There is plenty of parking with ample spots for those who are disabled.
The ROC was clean, the lobby had numerous vending machines as well as a decent concession stand where you can get actual food like burgers, sandwiches or chicken nuggets. Snacks were also available (the Parmesan Pretzels were a hit!)
Seating in the West rink is bleacher style with good sight lines. The ambient temperature was comfortable and not overly chilly as most rinks tend to be. Access to the seats can be attained by either walking up from the first floor or taking an elevator to the second floor and walking down. The elevator is large and a great asset for those who are disabled or have difficulty with their mobility.
Overall, there's nothing not to like...
Read moreThis pool has lots of variety that people of all ages will enjoy. Much of the pool features a zero depth entry. There are playful water features, fountains and slides for younger children. For bigger kids and adults, there are drop slides, diving boards, and two large water slides. Most earlier hours (before the official 11 am opening) are typically reserved for swimming lessons, toddler time, and adult lap swimming. At certain times and days, an inflatable obstacle course is in put in the deep end for bigger kids and adults.
The lifeguards are superb and have excellent training and awareness. The rest of staff is very friendly and the prices at the concession stand are great! There is an eating area and grassy area with picnic tables, and you are allowed to bring your own food (just not in the pool area). A shelter with tables is available to...

My son and I went today to swim and try out a new place. I am horrified by the lack of professionalism and safety at this place. The facility itself is gorgeous, (locker rooms small and so-so), but the lifeguards are horrendous. If you go, you MUST watch your children closely.
The lifeguards at the top of the tube slide/body slides were letting people go down in chains, backwards, head first, spinning, and so close to one another that they were colliding at the bottom. No hip packs were worn, and upon a pool-clearing rotation, one guard got down from stand as my son went off the diving board and had already taken off and rolled her tube up. They were also quite abrupt and mean to some kids who grabbed onto a rope at one point-- it was quite...
