I went and bought a pair of gas valve solenoids from Dey on Snelling Ave in St Paul MN. As it were the solenoids turned out not to be the problem, but the gas valve itself is broken. When I went to return them the not-very-friendly young guy very bluntly informed me that if a part was installed it cannot be returned. When I bought them, nobody told me I couldn't return them. Nor did it say that on the receipt. Maybe they have a small sign somewhere next to the "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service" sign that nobody pays attention to, or maybe it is next to the painting of all the dogs playing poker at the table. Maybe it is in the bathroom, I don't know. But at the very least IT SHOULD BE PRINTED ON EVERY RECEIPT THAT LEAVES THE STORE. So next I inquired if they would price match the gas valve on the internet seeing as I just contributed $23 to Dey for absolutely no benefit. To be sure, the young fellow, without asking what the price mismatch is, informed me coldly that they don't price match. They wouldn't even consider a good-guy discount for the useless solenoids I purchased from them the day before. F.Y.I Dey's price on the gas valve is an exorbitant $175, the price online for the exact same brand and model of gas valve is $65. I can almost buy three of the exact same gas valves online for what Dey is charging for one! I think Dey probably works for customers that have accounts with them or professionals that need the part that minute. My guess is they are quite a bit more willing to work with these types of clients. But for John Q. Public trying to save a buck, and maybe get some friendly service, not so much. If you're willing to wait for shipping; you will get a MUCH better deal online no doubt! However if you need the part right away, are willing to pay anything for it, subconsciously agree to an archaic return policy merely by having the 'privilege' of doing business with Dey, and think nothing has changed since the 1950's; then by all means, Dey...
Read moreExtremely disappointed with the attitude of the service with my visit today. I've used Dey several times over the years and this was my first negative experience. I was buying and changing out a capacitor on an old AC unit. I had pictures of how the old one was wired and simple asked to verify which wire went to which terminal. The Customer Service rep in a sarcastic tone said "you're the repair guy, you tell me" Confused, I explained that I'm just joe blow the home owner and was doing this myself and any help he could offer would be appreciated. Again he responded sarcastically, "do you have a wiring diagram? how am I suppose to know". To which point I gave up and said goodbye. Now, if you know anything about capacitors, there are two terminals and it can be run in either direction. Pretty common stuff, but this Customer Service rep wanted nothing to do with me. Not sure what his deal was, but it'll be quite sometime before I go back...
Read moreSo my Kenmore Elite front load Washing Machine stopped working and had an LE code on it after my son put to much clothes in it. The unit is about 7 or 8 years old. So i did some YouTubing, figured it was the Motor Rotor Position Sensor. I took apart my Washing Machine, (that was a first, but hey, I didn't want to shell out the money for a repair guy!) found the part. SO I tried Tony's Appliance first. They wanted $50! (I've never had a good experience at Tony's) So I walked into Warner's Stellian and asked them if they sold parts. The woman at the counter said no and handed me a small piece of paper and asked "Have you tried Dey's in Eagan?" Nope! So i called from the parking lot. He knew exactly what I needed, i drove up there and bought the part from the courteous and knowledgeable guy at the counter. Got home, fixed it! My wife was thrilled! Thanks Dey's! I'll be back for a motor for...
