My family and friends used to love going to this Culver’s. It has gone completely down hill and we so no change in sight.
The restaurant is FILTHY (the tile floors, which are always sticky, are turning black) from tables to chairs to floors. The staff is always so busy being social with one another or their friends that come in, their service lacks: incorrect orders, food doesn’t come out all at once if at all, we’ve had bad food w EVERY VISIT (including rancid coleslaw- which they may make every morning, but the mayo or frig temps aren’t right). And if all that is not bad enough, the management either WILL NOT TALK TO YOU if you have a problem because THEY ARE TOO BUSY, or blows you off like your crazy for having a problem with their food or service and does NOTHING TO RECTIFY THEIR ERROR!
One night my onion rings did not come out w my order and when I asked an employee for them she never returned with them. I went up to find out where they were...they were just sitting there on a tray while the employees were chit chattin’ It up! I interrupted their conversation to ask them to hand them to me and they literally ignored me! A customers waiting to order told me to just get them myself- SO I DID! Of course they were to be eaten w my meal and that obviously did not happen. When I said I wanted to speak to a manager after our meal, the manager NEVER CAME OUT AS I WAITED AT THE COUNTER!
One day I ordered and was having water w my food. After our order was placed I asked the employee for a lemon wedge for my water. He actually outright snapped at me and asked why I couldn’t have asked for that while I was placing my water and gave me a harrumph noise. I have NEVER had this problem before and always asked for my lemon after order placed. So the guy asks the cooks for my lemon slice and walks off- NEVER TO RETURN and my lemon slice just sat there behind the counter! I had to go get it myself!
The coleslaw that came w our meals had STICKY MAYO- the coleslaw looked BAD. I took it to counter and showed a manager. Who was not happy to have to talk to me- she said they make it every morning and it should be fine! I said this is not fine- the mayo is rancid. She offered another side- I told her we are done w our meal and another side at this point was futile. She didn’t offer a gift card/coupon for our next visit, instead she was agitated and had the OH WELL TOO VAD SO SAD ATTITUDE! WTH?!?!?
I could go on and on with complaints about this place... it used to be so good! The management and employees need a...
Read moreI have never once had a bad experience at a Culver's restaurant until today. I frequent this location, as it's close to my work. I came in with an e-club coupon, which they've always accepted there. I was told they wouldn't accept it because this is a Culver's restaurant and the coupon was from Culver's e-club, which seemed strange. I asked her to refer it to their manager, and she refused. Nevertheless I ordered and ate there. Later I went back to the counter to order a concrete mixer. The person who took my order was the same person who refused to ask the manager about the coupon. While I was up there, she mentioned that she did eventually ask her manager about it, but she didn't tell me any more. After ordering I waited in the proximity of the counter for a short time, but the person who took my order strangely kept staring at me, so I took the claim number back to my table and waited there. After about 10 minutes, I figured something was wrong, so I approached the counter again and said I'd been waiting on this order for some time. A different person asked what my order was, and I said I didn't know, meaning I didn't remember. I took out my receipt, and I was unfolding it she said, "Don't help him; he's being rude." I couldn't believe it. I left my claim number at the counter and went back to the table to retrieve my things and leave. I swung by the counter on my way out, and mentioned that I was a frequent customer there but might not come back again, and the second person would only say, "Have a nice evening." I'm now out the $3.98 I paid for the dessert I never got. I'm not sure I've ever been treated anywhere close to this bad anywhere. I know people have bad days and mistakes get made, but this seems more systematic--symptomatic of bad managment. When I ordered my dessert, I thought it was strange that nobody seemed to be making any custard item, which was the first sign of trouble. I doubt if something got made and was given to the wrong person. I'm at a loss to understand what went wrong, but I realize that mistakes and omissions sometimes do occur. But this was way more than a mistake. It was a series of confrontational actions on the part of the staff. I felt like they were trying to teach me a lesson and that I...
Read moreYou won't find a better place for a butter burger and cheese curds for miles! And of course, it's affordable. I love the flavor of the day, any day!
This Culver's is in the middle of a very multicultural area of St. Paul. It's just south of the Minnesota State Fairgrounds and just across University Ave. from the new Minnesota United Football Club soccer stadium. While other establishments might be sketchy, this Culver's is safe and clean. That's one reason I choose to go there almost every week.
The Parking lot is behind the restaurant off a side street. You can only enter from University Ave. if you are travelling westward towards Snelling Ave. due to the light rail system. But if you are going east, you can make a U-turn at the light.
Went there again today and loved my dessert to top off my meal. It seems to me that there are always a lot of employees working on each shift. I asked one why she works at Culvers rather than a local big box or grocery store. I asked, "Does Culver's pay you better?" She said, I have been here since the store opened six years ago. I just love it. The people here are good." Hmmm.... it shows.
Went yet again, probably 20+ times in the last 5 months. The food is consistently good here. Service is excellent. Well done employees. Owner, get them something better than a broom with which to clean the carpet.
7/13/19 Sad to say that cleanliness has suffered in the past 2-3 months. Floors are always sticky. Wifi is inaccessible. Staff turnover is apparent. Getting to the point of not interested in going there anymore.
11/9/19 Went again to give it another try. Sad to say...4 males were gathered outside as I went inside. After ordering my meal they we all seated inside at different tables... one had gotten some drugs out, right there on the table. On the same visit but separate incident a woman came up to be inside the store asking for money as I sat and ate. She did the same with everyone who was there. It was all reported... NOTHING SEEMED TO BE DONE ABOUT IT. I changed my rating form a 5 star to 1 star. Not going back. I...
