Went to inquire about the place to possibly sign up. I am completely new to gyms so i was trying to get details about the prices, what they had for machines and how they worked etc. The manager was not very helpful. First thing he tried to do was sell me a membership despite what i told him. I had to schedule an appointment on a later day just to get a tour that was supposed to address my concerns. When i came for the appointment i had to wait for 30 minutes before he even met me and proceded to just walk me through only a little of the place and not explaining to me about anything. Then he had me wait by the desk while he did nothing but talk to coworkers before pawning me off on some guy named Omar.. I got two different prices from him and Omar who gave me a guest pass.. Omar was a little more helpful at least though after activating a guest pass. He showed me how to use only one machine. When i wanted to be shown more and some advice he basically told me he isnt paid to do that and he has to get back to work like customer service isnt his job. So he basically blew me off and didnt even get someone else to show me a bit more even considering it factored into my decision to get a membership or not. I could only get someone to show me how to work the equipment if i got a membership apparently even though it literally would have taken only 5 minutes. Well, all i can say is if this is how they treat potential customers they are trying to sell a membership too, i dont think i will get a membership. Based on my experience, i dont reccommend the place. I would rather exercise on my own for free than pay 35 to 50 dollars a month for such...
Read moreI have to say this is not one of the best LA Fitness in Minnesota. Preferably, Roseville LA Fitness is more suitable to the company in accessing well customer service from the operations manager and having a clean and safe environment to work out at. I have been working out here at LA Fitness for at least a year and a half now. I have watched many members have more complaints since the Operations Manager Michael came in. I have witnessed him ignoring and objecting member's concerns more than several times already. He always pretends to be on his headphones talking on the phone while his OWN customers are waiting to address their concerns. I overheard several times Michael telling them he will resolve the issue but witnessed him never actually doing anything about it. My wife attends the classes LA Fitness offers and there are days where classes was canceled and it was not notified on the website at all. The men's locker room is a complete mess and smells horrible. Not to mention that I never see a janitor there to clean or put in the paper towels. I have to say working out here for over a year already, Michael is a horrible, disrespectful manager and doesn't get the job done to satisfy his customers. The only thing he is doing right is hiring the right employees at the front desk and kids klub. The best employers by far are Shushe and Sierra. I would recommend to have them assist you in any issues you have regarding your account and having them babysit your kids, although it's too bad they are rarely scheduled assuming Michael has something to...
Read moreI've been a LA Fitness member for at least 5 years and this has been my club of routine. I was one of the Bally's refugees when they closed (the one down the street). The club is HIGH volume, as stated by other reviewers. I don't know Michael personally, but he seems to be responsive based on my what I've seen. The locker room is admittedly sort of a disaster, but what would expect from a really high volume place at the end of the day (4:30 PM and on)? I almost always see janitorial staff in there around this time, and I get there between 5 and 5:30 PM typically. So they make an effort and that should be recognized. Also, it's a large footprint club in the inner city and used to be a department store (Mervyn's or something) - so the building wasn't designed as a health club originally and therefore isn't as big or spacious as the suburban LA's. Again, people need to be reasonable. The only LA in Minneapolis is in Uptown and I've heard it's even smaller. So you get a fairly-large footprint club in the middle of the city, accessible to a transit user like myself and others like me (bus/train riders, cyclists, peds).
Also, I prefer to think about this as "the peoples' club." It is very diverse (like one third African and African-American, 1/3 white, a quarter Latino and the remainder other - i.e. Asian, etc.). I see real friendships here within and across ethnic groups and it's cool. I almost always run into people I know of all backgrounds. People aren't assholes like in other places. So it's a good experience in that way. And again...
