Metro Sound & Lighting Inc. — Attraction in Saint Paul

For my wedding, one of my responsibilities was to secure lighting and sound equipment. After looking for nearby rental shops, I found Metro Sound and Lighting. At first, I was not especially excited to go to the store, as I expected to be greeted with high prices, a barrage of incomprehensible information, and high-pressure sales tactics.

Boy was I glad my expectations were wrong! Metro sound and lighting is truly one of the most professionally-run businesses I've had the pleasure of giving my support. Everyone I spoke to there was polite, highly knowledgeable, and willing to work within my modest budget. Never was I encouraged to spend a higher amount than I initially stated, and each of my questions was thoroughly addressed in language I could understand.

The entire transaction was smooth, enjoyable, and unpretentious. I walked out of the shop soon after entering, with a rental secured, and a head full of intuitively-laid out knowledge about what exactly I had purchased. When I picked up my rental items, they were quickly transferred to my car. The return was quick and painless as well. I've since returned on one occasion, and will ardently encourage anyone I know with audio needs to address them here.

I've been purchasing sound and stage equipment from Metro for decades. The owner, Larry, has become a real good friend with my wife and I. Larry's staff has been with him a long time. There isn't much these guys don't know and they're all good guys. The inventory is impressive and they carry all the best brands that people want. And the big surprise is... their prices are hard to beat, even on the internet. It's pretty dang convenient to drop in, pick a speaker stand, a wireless mic system, and a mixing board, like I did, have a nice chat with the guys (you've really got to get to know them). I usually work with Adam but he's out with health issues, so Chris stepped in to help us with a smile. Metro Sound is one of those places that make you feel like you've been gigging with these guys all your life. You know they'll give it to you straight. I stopped in to this place today to get some information about lighting options for my DJ business. I want to offer my customers more options and have been a little overwhelmed with the amount of lighting options out there. I spoke with Curvy and he was really informative and answered all my questions, and made a lot of suggestions helping to point me in the right direction for my business. I stopped in at EMI audio last week and they made me feel like I was an idiot for asking so many questions, and were not very helpful. So I didn't spend any money there lol. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for lighting or audio gear. Customer service is really important to me, and they nailed it.
