My recent visit to the American Yacht Harbor left me with mixed feelings, but overall, it was a pleasant experience. The property itself is meticulously maintained, with well-kept docks that are often bustling with activity from various vessels.
One of the highlights of the American Yacht Harbor is its diverse range of shops, restaurants, and businesses within the mall area. Whether you're looking to grab a bite to eat or browse through shops, there's something here for everyone.
However, there are a couple of drawbacks worth mentioning. Firstly, the parking situation can be quite challenging, with limited space available and a strict 2-hour parking limit. This limitation can be particularly frustrating for visitors planning extended boat trips, as parking costs can quickly add up and become an unexpected expense.
Despite the parking challenges, the staff at American Yacht Harbor are friendly and helpful, always willing to assist with any questions or concerns. Their hospitality certainly enhances the overall experience and mitigates some of the inconveniences faced.
In conclusion, while the American Yacht Harbor offers a well-maintained property with a variety of amenities, the parking limitations may pose an inconvenience for some visitors. Nonetheless, the friendly staff and vibrant atmosphere make it a worthwhile destination for anyone looking to explore the marina scene...
Read moreBeautiful Marina location with quality businesses- SELECTIVE security and administrative services left to their own interpretation of enforcement, which solely benefits the AYH/IGY company.
Be careful where you park and who you deal with - After many laps around the parking garage, I managed to find a spot marked two hour parking outside (which is utilized daily without penalty by locals- I've personally witnessed this as I've visited AYH many times per week for the past several years). However, today was selectively targeted for a boot by a security employee, who has a well known local reputation regarding his power trip.
Said security employee agreed that I was not in the spot for more than two hours, yet he had decided that I had violated parking rules and would be served a $250 fine even though I was right next to the sign that clearly states 2 Hour parking. Upon my visit to the AYH Marina Office, the staff did not verbally agree or disagree with his judgement and quickly was willing to drop the cost (albeit by less than 50%) to get me out of the room after seeing my efforts to document accordingly.
Next step- I'll be contacting IGY directly in attempt to get the...
Read moreVery unorganized with slip designation, no dinghy parking, slips are too cramped to fit dinghy. The pilot poles are falling apart, one of them is just a stump 5 inches above the water line that can puncture a hole in your boat, and they still triet to assign us there. The brakers failed to trip and it melted our power cord's plug. Staff is too strict. Whats good is that there are plenty of high quality stores, restaurants, shops, markets, and the St.John ferry, within walking distance.
If you are interested in just the marina, go somewhere else. If you can tolerate a low quality marina for the amazing surrounding buisnesses, then this is the best...
