I don’t normally write reviews, but after my experience with Aqua Action Dive Center in St. Thomas this August 2025, I felt I had to share.
I came to St. Thomas for the island life—beaches, sun, fishing—not even thinking about diving. While browsing the souvenir shop, I learned they offered scuba diving classes. I hadn’t been diving in over 30 years, but the owner, Hunter, asked if I’d be interested. That simple question reawakened a passion I’d almost forgotten. That’s when I met my instructor, “Squid.” I’m 62 years old, and I’ll admit—I had high anxiety about getting back in the water. I made that clear to him. After a quick classroom refresher, Squid took me out to the reef. His ability to read his students and ease nervousness is unmatched. Thanks to his patience, skill, and encouragement, I had an amazing dive. A big shoutout to Captain Leno, Jack, Hunter, and the entire crew. They combine professionalism, great humor, and a laser focus on safety, making my diving, snorkeling, and fishing adventures truly unforgettable.
To anyone reading negative reviews—it’s hard for me to imagine having a bad day with this crew. Maybe it was just an off day for you, but my experience was nothing short of fantastic.
If you’re looking for an incredible underwater experience in St. Thomas, I absolutely recommend Aqua Action Dive Center.

Read moreWe visited Aqua Action on a cruise port day. We took a taxi from the port to Secret Harbour Beach Resort for $15 a person. The taxi also dropped people off at Colin beach first so it took about 45 minutes to get to SHBR. A month ahead of our cruise, I booked chair and umbrella rentals through Aqua Action’s website (aadivers.com) and corresponded with their staff via email to make sure my rental was what we needed. We arrived at the resort and followed signs to the beach/dive shop. There was a separate area (north end of the beach) for Aqua Action chairs and the southern end of the beach was for SHBR guests. In addition to the chairs and umbrella rentals ($10 each), we rented two masks and snorkels ($12 for each pair) and pool noodles at $5 each. To set up the chairs and umbrella, there was a $15 setup fee that we had to pay (probably because guests don’t think to tip the beach staff). My daughter and FIL ate at the SHBR Patio restaurant and said it was good but other than that, we only bought canned drinks from AA. They had a small gift shop with all kinds of food and gifts where you pay for your rentals. If we go back to St Thomas, we’ll definitely go back because this was our favorite port day of the trip. ...
Read moreBoat and captain were good. But- Dive masters and one of managers/owner- different story. First day when I asked for more weight because- I needed it, one told me ‘ NO- you don’t! (need it)’, then though the other Dive master had put 2 extra pounds in my BC when he saw me swimming down to stay at 15 ft. The BC I rented and they set up for me didn’t inflate and was leaking at the air connection. I showed the Dive master the bubbles leaking underwater. Also The BC’s Velcro straps holding the inflator hose were completely useless. Unfortunately I found out BC wouldn’t inflate DURING the dive. As if that wasn’t enough- After diving, a man came up worried about his wife who was way off shore, out past the protection of cove. That day there was a storm advisory at the time- 25 + mph winds. I said that she might have trouble because of currents (wind and ocean). The manager scoffed at me saying ‘ there are no currents here’, made a face to her employee. Don’t understand how she runs a dive center not aware of wind swell currents and off shore ocean...
