Like a kid in a candy store! When you come all the way from Europe to see what you have only been able to see on pictures and you realise...there is so much more to see!
There is no way a picture could ever tell you the textures, you do not get the general ambiance, you do not get the nuances...the experience and the very warm welcome is worth the trip! The decor itself, the curtains, the cabinets, the wall paper, that building is a piece of art on its own. The outside and the beautiful dahlias, roses and other carefully curated beauties is already a beautiful collection!
Let us not forget the amazing collections of arts, books and other artefacts! I had no idea the permanent collection was going to be so exceptional! I don't feel that s a secret as it was announced to us as we walked in but I didn't expect originals and my eyes watered a little...the library is pretty impressive and from what I heard, it's only a fragment.
John, Erica and Audrey were absolutely lovely! The shop is neat and tidy and very easy to navigate, which is a rarity for a gift shop and very much so appreciated.

Read moreCame all the way from Michigan, like many others who came from far away, only to find confusion and not a single person to contact. Google lists hours as open. But no phone number to call & confirm. Their website says that they are neither open nor closed. Their Instagram made a vague post a while ago about being temporarily closed, but did not say for how long or when they’d reopen, AND they have been posting again since then, so.... I’m only here for two days, so now I have to decide whether I should forgo a few other places on my list that I wanted to visit, and instead go to the Temple on the chance that they’re open, or risk wasting time and missing out on the other places in case the Temple is closed. It’s just bad business.... For hell’s sake, at least UPDATE your website, or hours, or update your voicemail message to CLEARLY state whether you’re open or not. Seems like such a simple thing to do, and a basic courtesy to...
Read moreIt's a young religious organization, so they're still finding their path a bit, but the art gallery had a wide range - traditionally beautiful to obscene, artists just starting out to some actual Degas pieces, so well worth the price of admission. Don't bring the kiddos until they're old enough to understand the context of the art and act with some basic maturity. Incidentally - the house itself is gorgeous and whoever did the interior decor lighting wallpaper draperies has definitely presented a masterclass example of stage setting. Truly, go just for the wallpaper. The staff was courteously firm about their Covid policies and very informative, which was greatly appreciated. Have your ID and vax card ready...
