We were so happy to find something for us to do.My kids were very excited. The front desk lady welcomed us with a very rude tone, nothing but rude remarks to us. I didn’t even get to finish checking in with her. She kept complaining about the kids because he went and sat to watch the movie while I was checking in, Because my 3 yr old she said “ran” to him. The hostile environment wasn’t for us. If she’s already complaining and we haven’t even officially entered how can we enjoy this museum. My kids are 5 and 3. They didn’t even talk or yell, . They were literally just excited to see and learn about this museum. I told the lady up front this would have been such a good experience for us but her rudeness and hostile remarks and comments have ruined it for us. Their mother is right here she doesn’t need to say anything. Also, she was very rude about the water I had and how I didn’t know the check in process. . Too bad. it really ruins it for people when you have such a grouchy lady in the front. We won’t be back. Hopefully she didn’t count us...

This is a great museum for kids. We had 3 with us, aged 12, 10, and 8, and they really enjoyed themselves. To get the full experience, you have to stop at the front desk and pick up the scavenger hunt (different ones for different ages), and you've got to spend some time in "the lab" working on solving the mysteries.

The scavenger hunt has things to find throughout the museum, and keeps the kids looking and reading. The "lab" area is really wonderful, too. I don't remember the exact name of this exhibit, but kids work on "mysteries" where they go to different stations, observe/read, and answer questions to solve. Someone has put some time into this, and we could have spent a good hour just in that spot.

In the end, the kids also received little prizes for completing the scavenger hunt....

HELLO ALL!! Today I went to the Smokey Hill Museum and had a BLAST! I may be over 20 yrs old but boy, oh boy did I get to have fun at the Curiosity Shop! They even have a tornado simulator! And it is loud hahahahaha! But it was so much fun. Il definitely be to ng again soon! The museum is clean and tidy. There are multiple "Sanitizer Stations" throughout the building stocked and ready to be used. It has a small but beautiful shoppe next to the entrance desk. If u enjoy history and science then check the out! Right now they have an interactive "bomb" shelter.

But as always, make sure to wear your mask!!

Shameless plug: if you want stupid and cringey fun, check out my TikTok! @v3xas24

Stay safe and have fun...

📍Smoky Hill Museum, Salina, KS - I still can’t believe this museum was free! This is how fast I had to pedal for Instagram 🤣😂 So many hands on activities and experiments for the children(and me 😂🙌), make your own tornado 🌪 with mist, build a structure and test it in a wind tunnel, a tornado simulator, a broadcast room with mic and instruments and so much more ! We had a blast 💥 at this museum. We then went to lunch at the local Italian Restaurant Downtown Salina - Martinellis, the meatballs were huge and the garlic bread was amazing 🤩Follow for more nature, faith, food, RV travel, RV life humor and road school content @adventurinlife #FamilyRVadventures #Roadschooling#RVtravel #FamilyVacation #AdventureTime #RoadtripLife #ExploringNature #TravelWithKids #RVadventure #FamilyBonding #RoadschoolCommunity #NatureLovers #FamilyRoadtrip #RVlife #AdventureAwaits #RoadschoolFamily #Rvmom #RVFamilyAdventures #OnTheOpenRoad #NomadicLove #Journeyofstrength

What a great place for people of all ages. You begin with a little advice from a lovely person at the front desk. She goes through how to tour, which direction and what keys things to look for. You travel at your own speed and for me... watching the families entertain and educate their kids at the same time. Side note - those of you that remember the old radio shows, can sit and enjoy them laughing at the dumb jocks like I did. Be ready to spend at least a couple hours enjoying going back to a quieter time.

My little human and his mom was not thrilled to hear we were going to a museum, but once we got there they didnt want to leave. They have a bunch of hand on activities for the kids and my big human also loved the hands on exhibits they have. Did I mention it was free you cant beat free we spent 2 hours in the museum. If your looking for something free to do I recommend the Smokey Hill Museum!(they have a old freeplay pinball machine) Check us out on Instagram @g.o.a.t_adventures
