I've gone back and forth between posting this review or not. I went with my spouse to a recent showing of Sweeney Todd. Initially, I was really excited, but it ended up being the worst theatre experience I've ever had. The performance itself was okay, it was obvious that some of the performers forgot their lines, but I get it-happens to the best of us. The interpretive dance for the implied sexual assault scene was...a choice. The best performer played Adolfo Pirelli and made it watchable. On to the big negatives for me.. Whatever fog machine chemical they were using made my eyes water, which is odd, since other performances I have attended with fog NEVER have done that. Some of the risers were just bare 2x4's. I wish that they painted or covered them, since next to the rest of the set it was really obvious. The thing I find UNFORGIVABLE was the set design. For the signage NOTHING was handmade and it was baaaad. Think modern printed banners with ye olde font that just looked like they were made with templates from canva... for an 1800s smog filled London setting. Did not work at all. Worse yet, for the meat shop window front, they used AI GENERATED PICTURES. Absolute slop. It felt soulless. Especially in art space. Genuinely made my heart break. I left during intermission. Because of my experience, I can't in good conscience recommend this theatre. Take your money and go to a high school production instead. I guarantee that you will have a way better time overall and you would be giving your money toward people that put their entire mind, body and soul into all aspects...
Read moreWent to see White Christmas. My first time there. The ticket scanners no matter were you go,that type were, you have to show your phone or tickets to get in always seem to be the bottle neck in getting in the door to your seats so don't for get to take a deep breath before you get in line. They have drinks available, soda, water, wine& beers. Nice sized theater, large enough that you can have the audience interaction to help the show, but small enough that you don't have to have your opera glasses to see the actors :) The only thing that threw me was the rows in the theater did not have a isle down the middle. So if you get those great seats in the middle of the row be prepared to shuffle across 25 other people. The access other than that little hiccup was no problem. Ramps where needed and lots of doors. Overall great time wonder facilities. Looking foward to...
Read moreI thought the Wizard of Oz was wonderful and the actors did great. The only distraction was the guy with the Toto puppet he was in the way and it was odd looking. The dog was cute but a French bull dog not the right breed. He should have wore all black might have helped. Better to use real dog, stuffed dog or that dog and the right breed. With the play being so good why was this even done to make it look bad? Also the choice of having the witch have blonde hair was odd too why not black? Odd choices. Hopefully suggestion is changed will make the play a...
