The Cozy Inn — Restaurant in Salina

Okay, so: probably a bold statement, but Cozy Inn Burgers is absolutely the best thing in all of Kansas, I'm pretty sure. These tiny burgers pack a massive punch--they're delicious little morsels. And if you should choose to eat in at one of the five barstool available, you can start a "burger tab" and be served fresh, hot burgers off their 90-some-odd year old, well-seasoned griddle until you begrudgingly say "no more". If you're in love with White Castle or Krystal burgers, be prepared to fall out of love and be swept away instead by a new lover. Cozy Inn Burgers are what White Castle and Krystal burgers would evolve into if they were Pokémon. Real meat, real onions, real GOOD.

And the burgers are enough to drag you off of I-70 in the midst of a long, monotonous road trip ... trust me. But the awesomeness doesn't stop there ... the ambiance of the little restaurant is like walking back in time. It has retained much of its charm from the days that it first opened and you get the feeling that you're walking into a time-honored tradition that predates you and maybe your mom. Maybe your grandma. And the staff? They're always a blast ... they've got personalities that match the big taste of the burgers they serve up in this tiny space. There's even a nifty little map on the wall inside where you can pin where you're from.

The one and ONLY downside to Cozy Inn Burgers is that if you spend longer than 30 seconds inside, you WILL smell like Cozy Inn Burgers. The smell WILL permeate your clothing and it will seep deep into your pores and maybe even your soul. But, really: is that a DOWNSIDE? That's up for debate. And I guess if you've got people to kiss, your breath will be leaving something to be desired after feasting on these delightful little burgers (unpopular opinion: totally worth it).

Cozy Inn Burgers is a long-standing Salina tradition that proves that old adage that big things can come in small packages: tiny, random places in Kansas can be magical. Tiny little restaurants with five barstools can be amazing. And itty bitty burgers with big, huge taste can give you the motivation you need to get through half of Kansas and fuel the rest of the way off of...

You can smell the STINK (like really sweaty, unwashed for weeks, arm pits) of this place for blocks. I guess many people have come to actually enjoy the stench, but how one acquires such admiration for... OMG... I don't know how else to put it... for horrid B.O. I can't fathom. I've heard tale that "Cozy Burger" smell/ flavor comes from intentionally never scrubbing the grill, but I suppose that MAY just be rumor... uhhh... MAYBE. You wouldn't think that would be legal. But, well, whatever. The tiny little burgers? Well, you can't get them without onions, I really don't care for onions; So yeah, just for me personally? I couldn't stand them, but in all fairness... Hey, lots & lots of people around this town just RAVE over the things. Yeah, I don't get it at all, but, THEY REALLY DO. For real, I can't believe it? But yeah... sure do. And for your drink, your pop comes in a CAN. I ki d.of like that, especially on a hot day. Yeah, Pepsi from a cold, COLD can, well, can't beat that! Unless it would be to have it out in much, MUCH fresher air somewhere far FAR from Cozy Burger. Like I said; this sure isn't everybody's opinion of the place......

I used to live in salina. This place makes awesome burgers. They still operate the old fashioned way so I feel they make more mistakes. My main issue this time I went had to do with a mistake that was made. I asked for ketchup only on 30 burgers, I had a mixed group with me that some like mustard and pickles, and some don't. They made the 30 the regular way with all 3 ingredients. When I noticed a few of the burgers had been eaten. So I grabbed what I could and took them back to the window. I explained their error and asked what they wanted me to do with the burgers. They told me that I could keep the burgers and they will fix me some new ones. Then 2 min later he wants the uneaten burgers back and he only replaced the burgers that he got back after he said I could have them. I wasn't going to eat them. I was going to let others have them. I hate mustard 😩! I just wasn't very happy with the service and feel they need to modernize their ordering system to get with the times and eliminate stuff like this. Could definitely make the service and process...
