OVERALL COMMENT: if you’re a business traveler looking for a nice place to stay, this place is nice. Nice rooms, nice lobby, a sunny courtyard and plenty of parking. Close to Downtown/Riverwalk. Just don’t come with an EV. As one who has worked in consumer focused companies my entire career, the most important thing to focus on is delivering on consumer expectations and, if you’re really good, over delivering on those expectations. I placed my reservation for a King room six weeks prior to my stay. When I checked in they gave me a double room. I went back to the front desk and noted my preference. They placed me in a differently-abled room. I did not ask for, nor expected to or assumed that I’d be given a differently-abled room. If first impressions are truly lasting, well, this room didn’t make a great first impression. It wasn’t just the low set accommodations. The room looked like it hadn’t been renovated in over a decade. The tub looked like it had been painted over and was peeling near the wall. They eventually moved me to a new room, a minor inconvenience and my second move, but an inconvenience nonetheless the less. If a customer orders a specific set of accommodations six weeks in advance, I see no reason why you can’t meet those accommodations. The room was available at the time the reservation, it should have been available at check in, and I shouldn’t have had to change rooms twice. I also think any differently-abled individual would be insulted by the accommodations in the differently-abled rooms if they saw what the base accommodations look like. The base rooms are pleasant enough for the average business or someone who wants basic accommodations. They’re actually nice and are a significant upgrade versus the differently-abled rooms. Finally, if you’re traveling in and get a rental car, don’t get an EV. They don’t have charging stations. There is one about a five minute walk from the hotel at DTC Garage, 501 W César E Chávez Blvd, San Antonio, TX 78207. (Note, I didn’t reserve an EV six weeks ago either, so this entire experience has been frustrating. See my Avis San Antonio Airport review on that debacle). All that being said, if you’re a business traveler looking for a nice place to stay, this place is nice. Nice rooms, nice lobby, a sunny courtyard and plenty of parking. Just don’t come with an EV.

Pros: BALCONIES, right in the heart of downtown, views of the Skyneedle, half a mile from the mercado, spacious rooms, fairly priced, soft beds. Cons: Drip coffee machine, ac is set to a minimum of 64 but really only gets to 68, but the worst thing is the entrances to the hotel. One is always closed and the other requires key entry and its hard to figure out how to get inside the parking lot. Parking is $20 a night, and the hotel is currently under renovations as is the surrounding area. You have to be an eagle eye to drive in the market district right now, so many streets are closed that it's extremely confusing. Be cautious. But here is the best thing about this hotel: a tiny lady named Karla who mans the Bistro in the lobby. In an ocean of sedate furnishings and otherwise occupied staff, this bright and shiny gem greets you with "Good morning, mamma!" She remembers your previous orders and asks about your family and she's just a delight. With all the construction i hardly recognize old San Antonio, but this sweet lady is the embodiment of everything traditional. She takes you back to the first time you visited the Alamo with your parents, the first time you marveled at the interior of Mi Tierra, and wearing your first flower halo on the River walk. She is a darling!

Upon first checking in the room I was given smelled musty, had a noisy AC unit, and felt completely unsafe with a full glass wall and a sliding glass door with a simple lock that led into a parking lot along a main road. Told hotel was completely full when I complained that I felt unsafe in this room. Was eventually moved rooms. Second room had ants all along wall when returned to room the 2nd day and when using the towels I broke out in a rash that looked like I had chicken pox. Desk staff never seemed concerned about anything, actually asked if I wanted to wait on a pest company to be called the next day or wanted someone sent up then to take care of them the ants. Because I want to stay overnight in a room with ants running the wall and desk (wasn't like one or 2...was a trail of a lot). After the instant rash when drying off with the towels desk attendant said we do use really harsh chemicals (mind you I've never had sensitive skin) and indicated maybe they weren't rinsed out well. Desk attendants didn't seem to know what to do and when I asked if they had any benadryl or hydrocortisone cream gave me some tiny packets from the first aid kit and told me to come back if I needed more. Other attendant gave me new towels. Not what you would think for a Marriott hotel or an hotel that seems to have such positive reviews posted. Oh and did I mention they provide ear plugs in your room - didn't think much of it until what sounded like a rock concert outside my room the first night. Luckily that was only the first night but as you can see from above every day was a new adventure.

Overnight stay here in route to San Diego and it was a great stay. Jenny was excellent getting me checked in and up to my room. There is a little renegotiation going on in the hotel parking lot it seems like but no big deal. Room was comfy and shower was hot. Easy access to get back on the I-10 and not too far from the river walk area. Would stay here again.
