Extra Space Storage — Attraction in San Antonio

I called at 5pm looking for a unit for the same day. I noticed the office would close at 5:30 and apologized for being “last minute”. The man on the phone assured it was not a problem. He asked what I would be storing and gave me a quote for a 10x10 unit. He also assured me that if I didn’t make it to the office we would still be able to get in. He took my payment over the phone and told me my lock would be in the unit. Once everything was processed I was sent an agreement online and then a link to my phone with my gate code. Before I got off the phone I received a call from the physical office explaining what to do when I got to the unit. So I’m guessing I was speaking to someone from a call center before. The whole process took probably less than 10mins and both employees I spoke with were friendly and helpful. I highly suggest using this company. Last week some thieves broke into my storage by cutting a hole into the sheet rock wall taking many of my valuables worth more than $4,000. We've had this storage for about 2 years but when we first rented it, I noticed that the fence in the back had a few open( torn) areas in which anyone could just walk in or probably had already walked in. We notified the people in the office with the expectation that they would fix the problem before it turns into a theft. With past break ins in this area and perhaps even at this storage, you would think security would be visible or that the facility would have some type of alarm system but it does not appear they ever had security nor an alarm system. According to our contract, they say they have security so if that's the case, how could this happen? Ayana at the Jackson Keller location has been extremely helpful and courteous with all of my storage space inquires, prompt with call backs, knowledgeable with pricing, and efficient with closing out account my services when it was time. We moved in last year when it was Life Storage and then Extra Storage Space took over recently. Since they have taken over, they have been making upgrades to the building and office space, extended gate hrs which is extremely helpful and overall doing a really great. I have no complaints.
