Palo Alto College — Attraction in San Antonio

This school charges me an out of district fee, even though I live in Texas because I am in Dallas and not San Antonio I somehow owe them more money, They recently started charging an EXTRA $1800 for students trying to get a cyber security degree. Its almost like their goal is to leave you with LOAN MONEY ONLY to survive off of as they come up with new charges to take any grant money you may get. 3-$5,000 is simple not enough for a part time or full time student to survive off of for a full semester. So you will drown in dept trying to go to school here. (Debt should not be normal). Rent is $1300 plus utilities car note and car insurance. 2months go by and a grocery bill later and I'm struggling with the very little financial aid they provide. I am worried about being homeless because I chose this, greedy school. I feel I should have went to a school with more modern and self paced curriculum so I can go as fast or as slow as I need to. I need to go fast because I cannot afford school and bills for too much longer, As I am an 43yr old adult with no family or friends or parents to help me through school. Yes I do have a job as well, still not enough. They don't offer any financial resources for students NOT in San Antonio. They don't consider that not every student is straight out of High School. Again, I am 43yrs old trying to transition careers and don't want to be talked to or treated like a child. The class Semesters are way too long. I could have been graduated with my associates degree if they would just let me go at my own pace. Not all classes are out dated in their defense, and actually its the pace that's outdated not the classes themselves. That said its 2025 they need to get with the times. Students need more financial Aide then EVER and faster Semesters. Nobody has years and years on their hands to wait to graduate these days. It would be so bad if I had more financial help. I'm so close to getting my degree yet so close to dropping out because I simple cannot afford it. I needed that extra $1800 but they found a way to take it, and leave me with just LOAN MONEY. I hate it. I am miserable and struggling.

On a brighter note I did earn a spot in PTK(Phi Theta Kappa) Honors Society, but that isn't getting me any extra money either, they want you to jump through hoops to get extra scholarship money when I think my grades alone should get me all the scholarship money I need to get through school, I have almost a 4.0 GPA, I had a bad car accident in 2023 and was in rehab for a neck injury for over a year and still kept my grades up I been earned it, why do I have to make a video or write a paper or sign up to something to get extra school money? I can't tell what's a scam and what's not when it comes to scholarship money so its just frustrating and the advisors don't reach out enough personally unless you try to reach them which can be hit or miss. All that said the TEACHERS ARE EXCELLENT AND DESERVE 5 STARS IF I'M BEING COMPLETELY HONEST! They help out as much as possible for you to succeed! The extra STARS are for the PROFESSORS! I just wish they didn't have all these hidden fees and extra charges, School is hard enough, its not 2005 its 2025. If your going to come up with extra charges make sure the student has enough aide to survive the semester, without having to consider dropping out due to financial stress. Completely unorganized and cant tell the head of their ass to the toenails on their feet. I attempted to do a 2+2 transfer plan, they gave me the run around and didnt help me in the least. ive been flagged for a month re-admission, and they cant seem to fix it. veterans affairs husky younger female employee was very rude and inappropriately dressed, claiming that army transcripts are only sent by mail, im sorry WRONG!!!! its ONLY digital!. the entire alamo transcript online system is down, so paper transcripts only work. even the fat dude that could barely breathe at the testing center forgot about me and let me sit there for 30 minutes before i demanded to get into the testing room. id rather get a degree from university of phoenix then to ever step foot onto this campus...

I am a new student and am super excited and was treated wonderfully until I had to speak with the Advisory Dept in person. I was set up for a virtual meet the staff were just on their cell phones and interrupting while I was trying to get the information I needed. Then the day of my zoom meeting I was having technical issues so I called the number given which was again there and the young girl who answered the phone was extremely rude I tried explaining the issue and she very rudely told me “I just have to wait” I expressed being worried and didn’t want to miss my appointment she repeated the same thing and hung up on me.
