Date of damage 10/27/22: Landscaping personnel took out my driver side window. Nobody left a note. It was not a break-in. Nothing visible in the car and no entry into my vehicle. I parked at the Voelcker trailhead at 0815 10/27/22. There were 3 other cars in the lot and I parked next to the farthest vehicle in the lot away from the landscapers. There were 4 landscapers in the parking lot area with weed eaters and blowers. I was gone for 1.5 hours to return to a busted window, consistent with a rock hitting the window as I had my rear window broken my landscapers approx 16 months ago in New Braunfels! My car was not broken into. Filed a police report and claim against the city as the park manager directed. The city closed my case without resolution because the landscapers were alledgedly not "city workers". City claims referred me back to the park who had referred me to city claims in the first place! I walk my dog in the streets now with speeding cars and leave my car at home. I can't afford to go to...
Read moreWhile the park was great, an experience put a damper on it for me and I wanted to warn others. A grown a$$ man without a mask, was for one reason or another, so bothered about my mom and I wearing one on the trail that he coughed loud, without covering his mouth, and on purpose, as him and his partner ran passed us. How did I know he did it on purpose? Because after I said, “Wow, I appreciate that”, him and his friend started laughing. It was an evil laugh that really was disturbing. (They had also ran passed us earlier and pretty closely as if to harass us). I mean, if you don’t want to wear one outdoors and are still maintaining your distance, that’s your prerogative. But what does it matter to you that I want to add an extra layer of protection for myself and others?! Be careful out there people! Who knows if they’re going around regularly doing this. There were other people near them when he did that and he clearly didn’t care about us or them, for...
Read moreI went with my dog on a Wednesday afternoon for the first time. It was a couple days after they just opened the new Sky Walk. It was incredible, although the walk across the entire bridge was shorter than I expected but still a good length. I chose to walk from the high point downwards, as that seemed to be the direction most people were walking. At one point it gets pretty high up and it's a little intense but in a good way. Just keep walking and don't look down if you get scared or have scared little ones as it doesn't last that long. Also one piece of advice if you're planning to walk your dog with you over it.. my dog's a little on the smaller side and the steel metal flooring made her walk funny across the whole thing so it might be a little uncomfortable for small dog feet. But she was fine immediately after exiting the bridge. Also if you go in spring beware all the hanging...
