ErgoDirect — Attraction in San Carlos

I ordered an OM5-EX and dealt directly with Evert Amaya throughout the entire process. His service was exceptional, and honestly some of the best I've experienced in awhile. Since we were on opposite coasts, we communicated through email, and his responses were prompt, informative, and many times gave me an answer backed by personal experience with the product. I ordered sample swatches before choosing my material, and was surprised by the addition of an extra new sample not listed on OM5's page. Evert provided me with links to the appropriate color samples, and additional materials I would not have seen otherwise. He really did go above and beyond with each interaction. Once I finally made my mind up about all the available options on the chair, I placed my order. Again I quickly received an email from Evert, concerned about the arm selection I had made (I chose non-locking arms) he reached out to me before posting the order, and was able to adjust the order to get the locking arms before any issues arose. Overall I just can't say enough about how well this company treats not only their paying customers, but any person making any inquiries about their products. I would recommend them highly to anyone!!! :)

Concerning the chair, it is SPECTACULAR!!! I ordered my OM5-XT with plush Evita leather, and its incredibly soft. The seat cushion with the added memory foam is of a medium firmness yet supportive in all the right ways & areas it needs to. The wrapped leather back gives just enough cushion while having the support needed for your lumbar. As someone who recognized their bad posture, this chair forces you to have great posture, and you thank yourself for it after long sessions in it. The movement of the chair is great, and relieves pressure on your legs when reclining that you never knew other chairs even applied before. The motion of the seat recline working with your own weight and movement truly is an awesome feature, as it supports you with every position you could be in. The arms have some of the best adjustability (6 way lockable, thanks for making the change Evert!), with multiple locking points and positions within each direction. Overall this has been an excellent addition to my office/gaming setup, one that I hope will last for many years to come, and one that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great ergonomic office/gaming...

DO NOT BUY THIS CHAIR IN 1001 CHARCOAL!! Do yourself a huge favor. I was super excited to get this chair as my husband has the same one in his office, but in black. I ordered the 1001 Charcoal, and when I got the chair, everything seemed great. Assembly was really easy, chair is very sturdy and had comfortable padding. BUT, the fabric is very much like sitting on sandpaper! When I called to speak with someone regarding the rough and coarseness of the fabric, the representative acknowledged the issue with the fabric as he felt the same way. When I asked about an exchange, that was out of the question! He did offer to provide me with a quote for a different fabric and told me that the 1001 Charcoal is the only fabric to have the rough and coarse feel, but the quote does get "pricy" for a different material. The fact that ErgoDirect knowingly makes the chair with this sandpaper fabric and still insists on a "NO exchange or refund policy" is absolutely absurd especially if the customer service representatives' only course of assistance is to offer an upholstery quote that "can get pricy". I was also told all of the information regarding the fabric is made known to the customers if you hover over the chair, and the company does offer to send a sample swatch to help you make your $440.00 decision. Neither my husband nor I remember hovering over the chair and seeing any information about the fabric or any warning, for that matter. Again, chair is great but this particular fabric and recourse to resolve a customer's comfort is horrible.

Update: Since my review, ErgoDirect has made redeemable efforts to ensure customer satisfaction. While my dissatisfaction was with the fabric alone and commercialisation that went along with it, I was given the opportunity to have the fabric replaced with the same fabric my husband's chair is lined with. My mom and I went to ErgoDirect to looking for a desk chair on extremely short notice. We called and first spoke with Christina, who pleasantly went out of her way and immediately scheduled an in office consultation with Nick, the owner, within 30 min of our call. Upon arriving, we were pleasantly greeted and Nick walked us through the entire process from start to finish of factors that are important to consider when investing in a ergonomic chair. He thoroughly and objectively explained the pros and cons of each feature of a chair, and helped direct us to the best option given my posture, sitting habits and more. Working with him has made us confident that we were getting exactly what we wanted and needed without any unnecessary upselling and and exceptional manners and friendliness. Nick truly took the time to understand our needs as customers to find us the BEST product period. Furthermore, both Nick and Christina went out of their way to work with our budgetary constraints to help ensure that we were getting the best deal possible. When we found a competitor quote, Nick went out of his way to help us understand each factor of the competitor price point and still maintained excellent professionalism and courtesy. He explained that with potential competitors, they don’t offer the same level of detail, consideration and customization. A chair from ergodirect is truly a bespoke investment in ones comfort, spinal alignment, and health.
