La Hacienda Restaurant — Restaurant in San Carlos

While getting our first house ready to move-in, I googled the nearest restaurant. La Hacienda appeared and I proceeded to walk there for lunch. Excellent vegetarian options! I almost always get the incredible Enchiladas Mexicana with cheese. Recently I had the Chiles Rellenos which have a very unique, lighter, tastier batter in an even more unique round shape. Delicious! The fresh guac is top shelf quality. Depending on how much caffeine I've had, I get the horchata which my kids also love. The iced tea is perfect and unsweetened. The outside courtyard seating is amazing in San Carlos weather and the inside seating features booths. The staff and owners are incredibly kind and always cheer up my day. I'm hoping the delicious Cafe next door has survived...

Haven't eaten here in bout 13 years classic hole in the wall family owned Mexican restaurant pricey & quality not there. Looked over da menu a bit decided to order steak enchiladas; steak lightly seasoned with Red sauce lathered on top of tortillas with fresca cheese also included rice,beans, coleslaw. Tasted alright but pretty much lacked flavor included free almost stale chips & Pico De Gallo Salsa=$16.95 huh yep Celia's in Atherton has more flavor & flair with their enchiladas. OK, here is a good surprise! I rate La Hacienda 5 of 5 stars. Sometimes the best Mexican restaurants are the little hole-in-the-wall locations. La Hacienda is relatively small with a few patio tables. The shining star is the food and salsa. Perhaps the simplest Mexican menu that I've seen with a hand-full of choices, but, easy to find several favorite choices in the set. The chips and salsa are really enjoyable. The food is outstanding!
