Soko Soko Japanese Cuisine — Restaurant in San Carlos

Soko Soko is a refreshing new Japanese restaurant in the White Oaks area with lovely decor, great food and a really friendly staff. The owner Stephanie, has chosen beautifully colored dinnerware and glassware, that is really shown off against the neutral decor. And the dining chairs? Comfortably upholstered, unlike many wooden and metal dining chairs that seem to be the norm in San Carlos. Now, the food, very, very good. I loved the skewers! Really tasty. The signature Crunchy Lobster roll was delicious, we also had the Tempura, California Roll and salads. We'll be back soon before their official opening when I'm sure they will be packed for both...

Wonderful addition to the Peninsula- in an area of plentiful sushi restaurants, Soko Soko stands out and has become one of my family’s favorites. It’s refined yet fun, great for date night or family nights, has extensive options for any palate/diet yet doesn’t feel too overwhelming. The staff is attentive and friendly - dinner time can get busy but they are always on it with timing and checking in. Everything on the menu has been delicious- some of our go-tos are their hamachi truffle, omakase, kaisen don, agedashi tofu, buttered corn, meat skewers and we always try something off of their rotating...

First of all, I am impressed by the beautiful match of tablewares in this restaurant (my favorite blue and turquoise). Beyond that, the food is beautifully displayed. And even beyond that, all the ingredients are fresh. You can tell when you taste it. I particularly enjoyed the signature maki. They are not overpowered by sauces.
