Be careful with this place. The prices are about $2 per sq ft higher than competition.
Also, I asked for a quote on a specific carpet, brand and name. They have me a quote on a Private Label carpet which they said is the same carpet. The quote on the Private Label carpet was competitive with the competition but, it wasn't the same exact one I asked for. There's a reason it's a Private Label. They knew they wouldn't be close in price on the exact carpet I asked for so they gave a quote on the Private Label carpet instead.
Regardless of whether or not it's the same carpet, I specifically asked for a quote on a particular carpet but, they never gave me a quote on that one.
Additionally, not only did they quote the Private Label carpet instead on the specific carpet I requested, they don't even bother to show me the carpet with a side by side comparison to the actual carpet I asked for. All they did was tell me in the phone that "it's the same carpet." Then why didn't they just show the Private Label and the actual carpets to me and let me decide instead of substituting the carpet in the quote? Also, why didn't they just give me a quote for the actual carpet I asked for instead of arguing with me and trying to convince me that the Private Label carpet was the same as the actual carpet?
The representative in the store knew less about the carpets than I did and I don't know much about carpets. I looked things up on Google but, this kid, who is a relative of the owner couldn't answer any of our questions. So, this gives you an idea of what he was trying to do. He did there waiting for customers to go into the store and buy the carpet so he makes his commission but, makes no effort to learn about the product.
Don't trust this business. Or, at the very least, get other quotes from other stores. I'm pretty sure the other stores will give you better service and will be less expensive for the same exact carpet without trying to substitutes a Private...
Read moreWe used Designers Magic for our home remodel and were super happy with the results. We primarily interacted with Kevin and Patty. They have several people that work the floor, but you for sure want to catch Patty if you can, she's awesome. My wife and I suffer with Stage 10 indecision. We flip flopped on things about 100 times, took about 1 billion samples, and were just generally all over the place. I have to believe we are in the bottom 10% of desirable clients. But the whole team was super patient with us and worked around our crazy remodel situation. We ended up picking a floor we wouldn't not have picked without their guidance, and we are super happy with it. We also had a gnarly demo and they did an awesome job. We did some luxury laminate in the end. I do think they are probably more accommodating for larger projects (we did about 3,500 sq ft) than they are for smaller projects. I don't think you could ask for a better experience though and I would highly recommend them for anyone with a large project who wants it done right. I was looking through some of the bad reviews. Someone was frustrated the floor sample didn't match the actual floor. Kevin told us to always order a sample box to know for sure what the floor will look like. Others complained about the price. I do think for smaller projects it's harder for them to compete on price, but for larger projects, they were competitive. IDK, I haven't priced it out for small projects in detail, just my thoughts. In any case, I just feel like you can't go wrong with them if you are wanting new floor throughout your home.
Oh, I do hate their name. No offense, but designers magic sounds cheesy and I don't think they are cheesy. I don't think it's doing them any favors. That's my only beef. I used to hate that it was in the craziest parking lot in San Clemente, next to Trader Joes, but I'm over that now. I mean, I like Trader Joes so I can put up with the...
Read moreI can't say enough good things about my experience with Designer's Magic. Last month my dishwasher flooded and ruined the laminate floor in the kitchen. Two years ago I worked with Richard at Designer's Magic to replace all the flooring in my condo in San Clemente. I was under some time constraints and Richard worked with me to choose carpet, tile and laminate flooring for my unit. The work was completed promptly and professionally and I was very pleased with the outcome. The price was very fair. So when the flooding occurred, I did not hesitate to go back to Designer's Magic to repair my flooring. R.J. and Richard worked with me to match the laminate, so I only needed to replace what was damaged. The result was...
