I absolutely love the TJ Maxx chain of stores and am such a loyal customer that they send me thank you gifts and special credit cards for people like me who spend way too much money there, lol. I typically wouldn’t write a review but this is the 2nd time I’ve had a negative experience with the male manager here. His customer service skills leave a whole lot to be desired and he tends to be very combative.
I left my receipt at home and figured I would return an item for store credit since I was purchasing additional items. This has NEVER been an issue at any other store. Because this item apparently was supposed to be a part of a set (I didn’t purchase it as a set) they refused the return. Tonight when the manager approached me his first sentence to me was with a raised voice pulling attention over to me as if I was trying to commit fraud or something which set the tone for our exchange and thoroughly embarrassed me.
Instead of focusing on serving me, he demonstrated his enjoyment of his power. He just kept repeating loudly that it was supposed to be a set multiple times until I finally said “I understand English just fine please stop repeating yourself.” Somehow that offended him so now I’m trying to deal with his hurt feelings and explain how it wasn’t meant to insult him and he eventually walked away.
I’ll return with my receipt to get my refund and won’t be returning to this store again which is a shame because I live just down the street.
UPDATE so I came in with my receipt and did the return with no problem but had a return of one other item on another receipt plus I was buying 2 more items. I asked the cashier to do it all in one transaction and he told me it wasn’t possible. I told him it was but may not know how, then he started arguing that it wasn’t possible and pressing the issue.
Another cashier heard the exchange and came over and proceeded to do it all on one transaction like I asked. As she was doing it And I suggested he watch so he could learn how, he literally repeated that it wasn’t possible.....as she was doing it!!
Lol omg. I asked him if they are trained to be argumentative there. The woman who helped out started to make excuses for him and apologized on his behalf but seriously. I won’t be back to this location. I don’t have the patience for...
Read moreFirst, I am a big fan of TJ Maxx, generally. I purchase thousands of dollars worth of merchandise every year from various TJ Maxx stores around the south OC area. I have never been treated as poorly in a TJ Maxx as I was tonight in the San Clemente store. The customer service in this store, primarily from the manager “Camila S.”, is atrocious. Judging by all the very poor reviews here, the majority citing the terrible customer service, I am not the first to encounter this.
I had purchased some items, including a dress, two days ago at the Aliso Viejo location. I found that the dress did not fit my needs and, being in the San Clemente store tonight, though I would return it there. The cashier, citing “store policy” refused to take the return, whereupon I requested to speak to the manager.
Camila S., the manager, also refused to issue a refund for the dress despite my presentation of the receipt from just two days ago. Her rationale was that this store does not carry stock in the department from which the dress had come. Yet, I was purchasing from that store items listed as being from the same department as the dress. So, either the store does carry that department or had accepted returns for that department. When I pointed this out to her, Camila stated that someone else must have made a mistake.
Camila proceeded to argue with me for almost 30 minutes. She embarrassed herself and me in front of her staff and other customers. In the end, she stubbornly clung to her decision to refuse my return which will force me to make another trip to a different location.
I will not visit this store again until there is a change in management and caution other patrons against frequenting this...
Read moreI'm a secret shopper and have been for over 25yrs. I wanted to let you know how my experience went at the San Clemente store. The employee's were very courteous, friendly and knowledgeable about the merchandise(Jesus-Floor). Some of the employees went over and beyond there normal job duties to assure my shopping experience was pleasant (Katora-Cashier). She was also professional ringing up my purchases. Not one time and I shop there at least 4 times a week have I had a bad experience with her. She always greets me with a great smile. This store is very clean and organized. I reside in San Clemente and I will forever shop there because of the Exceptional Customer Service I receive from the Store Manager (Rick) and the employees. "GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE goes a long ways these days". For the customer Ashley Bleckner who had a bad experience and was negative against Katora who was only I'm sure honoring the TJX Maxx return policy. You were trying to return a USED PURSE. All retails have a Return Policy the employees must obey, therefore, if you truly thought the purse was not up to standard " Why not speak to a Manager". With that being said....TJX Maxx is a DISCOUNT STORE". If you want better Quality maybe you need to start shopping at SAKS FIFTH or NEIMAN MARCUS. NOT STEIN MART which is another DISCOUNT STORE. If you try to return something that is Used at one of the high in stores. They will NOT return the merchandise. So, next time do your homework ASHLEY with the stores you shop. Everyone does not need to go off of others experiences. Just go into TJX Maxx you're self and see how your shopping experience goes. This is an...
