A nice trail to walk, look out over the ocean and get some fresh air. It's a great place to walk your dog, with well defined trails and nice flowering succulents along the sides of the path. The trail offers a few areas where you can cross the train tracks and enjoy the beach. Be careful and aware while walking because at times bicycles can move up on you rapidly attempting to pass.
I like to park at the North Beach parking lot, although it can feel a bit sketchy at times. From there, you can head south, enjoy a nice walk to the pier, restaurant and shopping area. The eateries offer some outside dining, where you can enjoy a meal near the fresh ocean air.

Read moreA one-of-a-kind gorgeous walking trail that runs parallel in both directions to the beautiful darker turquoise ocean waters. Truly lovely landscaping, very thoughtful addition of amenities (restrooms, pet stations, restaurants) and many magnificent residential structures aligning the often sheer cliff sides of the trail. Parts of the trail feel a bit more isolated even though you are just feet off the beach shores with lots of people relaxing and frolicking all along the coast. Please be prepared to greet several folks walking, jogging, cycling, and walking their pets along this trail which is 2.3 miles long in each direction. Highly recommended although please don't forget to bring your hats, sunglasses and sunscreen with you as there is almost no shade anywhere...

My wife has never had an issue with an ebike on the trail as she runs. She has had dogs get in her way and been nearly knocked down because some dog owners do not keep their pets on a tight leash. My wife is a physician and states it's the dog owners who are more of a danger to people on the trail...
