Updated 01/12/25 Small dog side: I value my dogs’ health & my own health too much to come here anymore. My dogs were met with hostility at the front door by seven dogs. Of which, no one called their dog back. I followed my dogs so that they could poop. And, nearly stepped in 15 (oh man! I did step in) & I’m not exaggerating abandoned poops. Meanwhile, 9 people sit on the patio ignoring their dogs. I used to pick up the poop; up to 30 poops every short visit. I won’t anymore. Because, it is so disgusting. I don’t know about the health of the dogs that are leaving the poop behind as I’ve seen worms and questionable items in the poop. The grass is always soggy & muddy & flea-ridden. After 9.5 years, I’m extremely disappointed in he downfall of the closest dog park to my home. ——— Wear disposable shoe booties or you will take home someone else’s poop. I’ve been coming to Capehart Dog park for 9 years. It’s convenient to where I live BUT is NOT my 1st choice. Regarding the Small dog side: Pros: fully fenced with functioning fountain and constant supply of poop bags Cons: you don’t have full visibility of dogs at the end when you sit near the table. Years ago, chairs were no longer allowed on the grass. So people, ESPECIALLY THE ELDER CROWD, do not follow their dogs to the grass to pick it up. The younger crowd 18-50 & their dogs are generally great. The elder crowd & their elder dogs tend to have an unprovoked bad attitude. Tip: avoid the small...
Read moreBeware of the small dog park, every time I’ve gone there’s been some older ladies with their small dogs that just let them bark non-stop, not correct their dogs bad behavior, and are sitting around gossiping. Today one of the small, old dogs (white, with a red jacket) ran up and bit my dog in the face right after we walked in. No reaction from the owner, I don’t think she was paying any attention even though her dog is aggressive. So as I left I saying out loud, “let’s go to the big dog park since this dog keeps trying to bite you” and the owner actually said to me, “oh it’s fine he has no teeth.” So I responded, “ya but mine does and I don’t want her to react to the bitting” and walked over to the big dog park (my dog’s just shy of 20 lb). As I left it looked like her dog was going after a new dog that was walking in and again owner just kept chatting away with the other older ladies.
Big dog park is great. Nice dogs and always friendly owners. Just wish it had grass, instead of dirt, since that’s what...
Read moreI like that the small dog park has grass! There are a lot of outside toys that people bring in and leave there and some are small enough for my dog to swallow. Tennis balls are fine but all the other little squeaky things people have left cause problems. There are also some grumpy regulars that have dogs that are just as grumpy and when they lunge at other dogs because they don't want to play, the owners never take responsibility and always blame someone else. Going over to the big dog park, yes it's all dirt, but both the dogs and the owners were nicer and better behaved. And only tennis...
