I didn’t want to leave a negative review, but I feel like I have to. I have traveled to more than 7 countries, and I’ve never experienced a hotel like this before. (I’ve traveled to the U.S. as well, but I couldn’t help but think, “Are all hotels in San Diego like this?”) I had booked a total of 13 nights, but I couldn’t bear it any longer and left early to find another place to stay. 1. Bugs A. Suspected Termites On the second night, I went to Universal Studios in LA and returned to the hotel late at night. When I turned on the light, the room was crawling with strange bugs, as shown in the pictures (they were only on the wooden floor). These bugs were even inside my luggage. I told the front desk, and they moved me to a new room. However, because of the bugs in my luggage, I had to spend the whole night shaking out my clothes and repacking. The next day, I even had to do laundry. Why did I have to repack everything while being so exhausted? B. Just Ants The new room they moved me to had ants. When I asked the front desk for bug spray, they said they didn’t have any. So I went to Target and bought three cans of bug spray and had to deal with it myself. There were also dead ants on the walls. Why am I paying for a hotel and still having to do pest control? -> In the end, I bought a sleeping bag and slept in it! Funny, right? 2. Housekeeping This hotel only cleans if you specifically request it. Otherwise, they just refill the towels. I understand that’s their policy, but it would be helpful if they had a door hanger for housekeeping requests. A. No Cleaning, but They Took the Tip I was so horrified by the bugs in my room that I requested cleaning every day. I even took out the trash myself; all I wanted was fresh bedding. But for three days in a row, they didn’t clean the room, despite my requests. I even asked at the front desk to please clean the room that day, but it didn’t happen. One day, they didn’t even take the used towels or replace them. Why did they take the tip if they weren’t going to clean the room? B. Staff Response When I complained about the lack of cleaning, they just said there was no housekeeper available in the evening. I can understand that happening one day, but for three days in a row? I made my request in the morning, but by the evening, the room still wasn’t cleaned. And all they said was, “There’s no housekeeper.” What am I supposed to do with that? They’re playing with me, right? Also, do the staff here not know how to apologize? If they had at least apologized, I wouldn’t be this angry. 3. Room Condition A. Dust I have a dust allergy, and this hotel is filthy. Especially the carpet and the bedding. I had hives all night and couldn’t stop scratching. In the end, I had to buy allergy medication and anti-itch cream from Walmart. If you have sensitive skin or children, do not come to this hotel. B. Smell The room smells like dust and mold. C. It’s just dirty. Good Point: Free parking. Honestly, I want to give this place negative stars. I’m not a native English speaker, so the whole experience was even harder for me. The bugs and dust made my stay unbearable. I trusted Holiday Inn when I made the reservation, but I am completely shocked and disappointed.

I have to say I’m very happy with this hotel. It’s a little diamond gem.. You have everything that you need right here 7-Eleven across the street Rubio‘s three minute walk Pacific Beach is a 5 minute drive SeaWorld and Mission Bay 10 minutes drive . Belmont is a 10 minute drive. Pacific Beach five minutes away has coffee, shops restaurants it’s really beautiful. my husband and I are here on our anniversary. We got two nights at first to see if we’d like it. We ended up loving it added on four more nights. Beds are super comfy. Bathtubs are nice. Take a bath in good hot water. breakfast in the morning has eggs and sausage, oatmeal cereal, milk, juice, breads, fruit anything you need to get you going and it’s free. McDonald’s is six minute walk. There’s other mom and pop little restaurants and pubs in the area. It’s close to the ballpark. housekeeping has been cleaning every day keeping this place very nice and clean. It smells good. There’s a very small pool but seems to be nice. A lot of people been in it. Mission Bay Beach has a $10 or less shops Starbucks pizza place lots of stuff to eat lotta stores it’s been very pleasant. I’ve been enjoying myself. It’s the vacation that we have been craving for a while and we worked so hard. It’s been very nice. Total dream Vacation So far. we’ve had plenty of things to do still have a lot of things to see. There’s a lot of things to do in San Diego. The weather has been amazing. Chilly at night in the morning nice and warm in the day not a lot of homeless not a lot of sketchy people. I’ve been here for a few days now I haven’t really seen anything like that. But here and there they stay to themselves. Nothing crazy out of the ordinary .I feel safe. there is a smoking bench. It’s a non-smoking property, but there is a smoking bench in the parking lot For smokers who do need a cigarette. Hard to find anywhere in this state now days. The hotel room has nice oversize pillows comes with a Keurig coffee pot microwave and fridge. The only annoying thing was the AC makes this ticking noise. If you turn down too low at night. it’s been pretty quiet and calm here. I’m very happy and I will definitely be coming back

I canceled my reservations three months in advance, the web page said free cancelations, nothing about no refund when canceling. I am out $767.83. I contacted the hotel, the lady told me there was no problem on getting my refund, this was a lie. I was told to call the travel agency rocketmiles, they contacted the hotel and was told no refunds. I contacted the hotel again this time I was told no refund, no reason nothing. The lady told me very rudely they don't give refunds and it does not matter the reason. I was totally lied to, and will keep fighting this as long as I can, for years I will tell my story. Going to my state AG next Thursday which is 8 May 25, have complained to PayPal they will do nothing I will be contacting the Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce and BBB. THE HOTEL DOES NOT CARE, so I don't. I have screen shots of the hotel policy at the time of this review, so they can't change it after the fact, have a hard copy of reservation with my proof. So when it comes down to it my review would be zero if It could be. Plenty more to come, cheaper to give my refund. I also have a appt with an attorney. Still nothing from the hotel, they only respond to positive reviews.

So I will start off saying, there are different types of trips that we take. Sometimes we choose something 4-5 star because it's going to be a relax and amenities vacation. This vacation however was all about touring around, sight seeing etc. we were not looking to pay for something higher end for a trip we were not spending time at the hotel in the day. So first off we take transit to cut cost as we are Canadians and our dollar sucks at the moment. This hotel has an awesome spot for taking the trolley downtown, up to the big mall, they also are within 5-10 min walk to two main bus routes, one bringing you to mission beach, and old town. Old town has all the main trolleys and buses that branch everywhere. The other stop brings you to Pacific beach and la Jolla. So for those who want to save on Uber I highly recommend. There are a few eating spots near by as well, sushi and some tacos etc and a 711. So the hotel itself was actually great! The staff are wonderful, the breakfast was a really great thing to have. I was a little bit skeptical because I read some reviews that if you weren't down to eat early there would be nothing. Very much not the case. The pool is small but does the job. They kept good care of the water which I really appreciate. As for the room, we were satisfied. Obviously the building is older, so do expect that an older building in the hallways are a little tired. The rooms were fine, we did have a tile that fell off the wall when the cleaner came to do the turn down, however it wasn't a big deal. The room was clean, the air conditioner kept it ice cold. I liked that the sink was in the entrance and the toilet and shower were in their own room. So helpful. The bed wasn't awful like a lot of places. It was decent. I slept good. It was quiet at night which was important. Course during the day you would hear some kids running around and having a blast because that's what kids do! But other than that you don't really hear what's going on in the room beside you, just the hall way. The comforter and pillows were good. One thing to note, they do the rooms every second day, so make sure to note on arrival if that isn't to your liking. Was fine for us, we just grabbed a set of extra towels. One surprise was that we did have to rent a car for one of the days and the parking was free when we were there. So helpful. There was a coffee maker in the room which we didn't need because of the breakfast service. There was also a microwave and a fridge we use both. Over all we will stay again! We were pleasantly surprised. Thanks for a great accommodation for us for our stay! Oh and one more thing to add. Yes the elevator does a not so pleasant sound when you hit the top of the third floor. In no way were we scared, however if that's an issue make sure to be on floor...
