The Casa del Prado Theater, located within Balboa Park, is a charming and historic venue that showcases San Diego's rich cultural heritage. Built in 1935 as part of the California Pacific International Exposition, the theater is a beautiful example of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, with its elegant arches and tiled facades. It has long been a hub for the local performing arts community, hosting a wide range of productions, from theater to dance and music. What makes the Casa del Prado Theater truly special is its intimate, inviting atmosphere. Despite being a smaller venue, it offers an incredibly personal experience, with excellent acoustics and a cozy setting that enhances any performance.

Beautiful architecture for once. It’s a nice building to admire and a good break for the somewhat bland American building styles. Granted it’s probably built by the Spanish back in the day but none the less a great place to go to. I hear the theater is very nice and worth a visit inside. Also be sure to check out the fig tree on on the other side of the street.

A fabulous venue for Entertainment. It's located in the heart of the Gem of Dan Diego, Balboa Park. Parking can be a challenge so plan to be there with plenty of time before your show.

Balboa park is a special place for my family and me for many reasons, as it might be for many families in San Diego. Because of the pandemic, it has been a while since last time we were there. About two weeks ago, we went to walk, for a couple of hours, after a medical appointment. Sadly, about 4:45 pm, it was kind of lonely, everything seemed to be closed, we couldn't find a restroom available, many plants were removed from the Alcalá park, we saw several "campings" of unsheltered individuals even in the main hallways, and no security officers around there. For the first time we have been at this beautiful place, we didn't feel very safe.. at least at that time. Hopefully, soon Balboa park will turn to be back again the nice, safe, alive place that it used to...

Went to see Masters of Harmony and 4 other groups. Seating is good, psrking is terrible we went 1.5 hours before the show and there was no parking anywhere e an close to theater. My friend dropped her friend and husband at theater and had to go to the hospital parking lot. She barely git back as no shuttle really running as we were told there would be. She waited over 35 minutes for a shuttle supposedly 10 minutes apart.

Theater is not handicap friendly as one has 3 sets of stairways to get to theater main floor. We did not see a ramp or elevator to get to seating. Our shows were great but would nit go zgain its too much walking and 3 of us in our 80s and others...
