A Cut Above: My Amazing Experience at Sepulveda Meats and Provisions! I just had the most incredible experience at Sepulveda Meats and Provisions at 1220 28th St, San Diego, CA 92102, and I can't recommend it enough! From the moment I walked in, I knew this was a special place. I was looking for a brisket, and the butcher that assisted me, knew his shit. Not only were they incredibly accommodating, but they were also wonderfully descriptive, walking me through the different cuts and offering fantastic advice. *Note you don't know what you don't know! What truly sets Sepulveda Meats apart, and what made me an instant loyal customer, is their commitment to locally sourced meat. I learned that their meat comes from California, including Brawley, which is just fantastic. In a world where so much is imported, finding a local butcher that serves up locally grown meat is a breath of fresh air and something I deeply appreciate. The quality is evident, and knowing I'm supporting local agriculture makes it even better. While being run up the butcher noticed my VA id card that was in my wallet hanging around my neck. Boom additional discount. Thank you, and if you read this the brisket smoked 14 -16 hrs including after wrapping cook time. Im pretty surprised at all the good reviews because I had a bad experience here. I would purchase 50lb of chicken backs for my dogs once a month, and I had a feeling they were giving me less. I asked the gentleman to weigh it for me, and it was 41.5 lb. He had no problem only charging me for that weight. But the following time I went the ladies that worked there became very offended when I asked them to weigh it and simply told me, “we aren’t going to weigh it. You can either take it or you don’t!” I was shocked. The following is another issue I dealt with. They told me to call in to check if the chicken had arrived yet. And they would give me a timeline. When I called, according to their timeline they got infuriated with me telling me they would call ME when the chicken arrived. And this was the same lady that told me to call in to check. And last but not least, I had a horrible experience with the owner himself. One of the times I called to see if they had and chicken backs available the owner answered extremely offended because I called his cell phone. I simply told him it was the number on THEIR website. He gave me the number to the store and then the employees had the nerve to scold me for calling the owner. I was scratching my head thinking, “WELL DONT PUT IT ON THE WEBSITE!!! DDUHHHH”, lol. 1. Quality: the meat is here fantastic. Even though you can find grass-fed, hormone-free meats at chain grocery stores, the products at Sepulveda Meats are a cut above the rest. It's so good that I often use their steak for tartar, to enjoy the beef just as it is.

2. Selection: the wide selection of cuts and products here gives you lots of great options. The sausages are fantastic. In addition to a lot of the popular cuts of beef, they have superb marrow bones and other specialties that you can't get at this quality in chain stores.

3. Service & small business: really nice people who take pride in their business and products. There's something different about getting your meat from here. These people care about their product in a way that you only find in small businesses. Especially with so many small businesses hurting during lockdowns, it's more important than ever to support ones like this. Their prices are more than fair for what you get, and when you taste what you bought, you'll know it was worth it.
