Intazza Coffee Mug & Grub – A Cozy Brunch Spot in Golden Hill/South Park
Nestled in the Golden Hill/South Park neighborhood, Intazza Coffee Mug & Grub is a hidden gem for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. In an area primarily filled with housing, finding a cozy and stylish brunch spot like this is a pleasant surprise.
Vibe & Atmosphere
On weekdays, it’s a go-to spot for working professionals grabbing coffee or having casual meetings. Weekends, however, bring a more laid-back crowd, with people reading, chatting, and enjoying a relaxed morning. One of the standout aspects of Intazza is its extremely dog-friendly environment. The outdoor dining patio is spacious, making it a perfect spot for pet owners to bask in the San Diego sunshine while enjoying a meal with their furry friends.
Inside, the industrial-style design is complemented by neon lights and photography of San Diego’s famous landmarks, adding a vivid and artistic touch to the space. The mix of regular tables, high chairs, and sofas makes for a versatile and comfortable dining experience.
Food & Drinks
While food preparation can take a bit of time, the quality and taste make it worth the wait.
East Coast Breakfast Bagel – A must-try! The crispy bagel is generously coated in sauce, with a perfectly cooked over-easy egg and crispy bacon. There are also small chopped potatoes at the bottom, though I personally think they’d be better served on the side to pair with ketchup.
Lavender Blackberry Latte – A March & April seasonal special, this drink is perfectly balanced with the richness of coffee, floral notes of lavender, and the sweet-tartness of blackberry. A refreshing and unique choice to start the day!

Read moreAtmosphere is fine, quite roomy with a warm ambiance and better than the Starbucks down the street.
Been here a few times now, but have not tried the food which surely looks decent. First visit, got their signature latte - fine, but the speciality flavors were hardly distinguishable from a basic latte. Once I stopped in for just a bag of coffee, and while the beans were actually good, the guy clearly gave me some sort of attitude because I was only buying beans. Odd. FWIW the beans are a bit overpriced and of limited selection, but better than Starbucks or mid-grade grocery store beans in a pinch.
Lattes are unremarkable for the price. On my most recent visit, the service was surprisingly un-enthusiastic and robotic. I was not even asked if I wanted take-away or dine in, hence the to-go cup which I’m sure limited the barista’s execution of latte art. Balanced and mellow, but rather weak and not worth $6.50 - especially when it is being served with all the friendly cheer you’d expect from an angsty emo band’s lead singer.
Good to at least have another option in the neighborhood, but not worth becoming a...
