This place has really gone downhill in the last year. The prices are ridiculously jacked up lately (not just typical inflation or import bump) and their security guard was rude/creepy to me. I came in tonight looking for some small quick gifts (it is holiday time, y’all need holiday hours). I was in the store within 30 mins of close and the security guard kept following me around, reminding me that the store closes soon… as if I don’t have a watch, and as if I was going to steal something. There were plenty of other patrons in the store as well, but I felt like he was following me around specifically. Cashier was not friendly either. I worked retail in a past life and I understand that it’s a slog and people can have bad days at work, but this felt damn near aggressive. Between the poor service and high prices — it’s no wonder brick and mortar stores are closing, and this experience couldn’t drive me into the arms of an online retailer faster. I have been to several other Don Quijote’s/TCM’s in CA, Hawaii, and Japan in the last decade and NEVER had this poor of an experience....
Read moreEver since all of the Sanrio stores in San Diego closed down, I've been trying to find places to buy Sanrio things. And I came across this! This store is actually PERFECT!!! They have a lot of Sanrio stuff, but they also have a lot of anime stuff too! I believe that they used to be another store with an Sanrio Surprises store attached. I'm not too sure though! Some things are super cheap, while others are kind of expensive. I bought a Hello Kitty plush which was about $20 (a little bit more with tax I think) But it was totally worth it! I bought a Rillakumma plush that was like $14 or $15 the first time I went there (I don't remember exactly) And it was super cool. Pretty good quality stuff! I also bought another cute plushie for $15! Most plushies are like $14/$15-$20 I think. Even if you don't like Sanrio or anime, it is still defiantly a super good store! There's probably something for everyone. It's a very kawaii store. Super kawaii. They also have a lot of sort of random kawaii plushies too. 10/10 i...
Read moreThis is a part of a center that sells basic groceries in one building, Asian foods in another, and finally Japanese products in the third. The parking here is horrible and you may need to drive around like a vulture searching for a carcass. When you do park and make your way into here you will likely be pleased. The selection is the best I have come across so far. Some items were out of stock, but I assume this was because of supply shortages. The staff was friendly and helpful. The prices were ok. Not a deal, but reasonable. I did have to use the restroom while there and they told me there wasn't one. So I had to go next door and leave earlier than I wanted to. But I would go back if I lived in the area. I don't think I will be passing through there anytime soon and I wouldn't go out of my way just to visit...
