Village Hillcrest — Attraction in San Diego

Took place in their parking garage, level p2. Their machine didn't validate parking like it was supposed to, so I tried to pay the $1 it was charging me anyway, and the machine ate my credit card and peeled off the corners. Called the assistant by clicking the "need assistance" button, while cars are piling up behind me. Woman was unfathomably unhelpful, to the point where I thought I was being trolled. She asked me 10 times what business validated my parking (MedArts), then told me that they don't validate parking with that business (which is obviously a complete lie), and then told me to try my card again (which the machine already ruined). Once that didn't work, she told me that I will have to, somehow, back up out of the narrow gated exit structure, dodge all the cars behind me, and go up to p1, to try to pay the machine there. All over $1! One of the craziest things I've ever heard in my entire life honestly. I said I can't do that and she told me to try the ticket again. This time it immediately validates the parking and lets me out. So...they DO validate that business's parking then. She chuckled over the intercom and hung up. No "sorry for wasting your time" or "sorry our machine ruined your credit...

TLDR: We were basically held hostage here for about 5 minutes. They had our ticket and wouldn’t let us leave for disputing EV parking fee and parking fee for garage. DO NOT PARK HERE. It’s a scam and kinda scary to deal with the parking attendants. An hour here almost cost us $15.

The EV charging stations charge for parking and we asked why we had to pay additional parking fees to leave. The employee in the booth refused to look at our receipt and we asked him to call his manager. The manager came over and took our ticket and demanded to know what time we came in. We looked up the Sema Connect receipt. We had been there an hour. He said the charges for the parking on the EV chargers hadn’t processed yet so we had to pay for parking?! He finally said he would cover the parking for us. Because they were so belligerent, I asked for his name. The manager then said he wouldn’t give us his name so I took a picture. He said because I took a pic we would now be charged for parking but he still had our ticket and wouldn’t give it back. We threatened to call the police and he let us through. DO...

Don't go here whatever you do don't park in the structure there's huge signs as you would want to pull your car in that say how toxic and dangerous it is to park in the structure, so the warning is there, I truly feel sick to my stomach when I park here because of the intensity of the toxins... plus the people that work here hang out by the booth as you pull in and they're just so disgustingly rude... don't park here just park on the street or there's another parking structure diagonally...
