May of 2021. This review is for casa de López located in San Fernando City within Los Angeles county. Also known as Lopez adobe house, it has been renovated and restored by the city of San fernando. It is considered to be one of the oldest houses in all of San Fernando valley. Originally made out of adobe and reconstructed with modern material. Visiting Lopez Adobe on the fourth Sunday was a delightful surprise—this Monterey-style house from 1882 feels like a Victorian dream, complete with hand-cut turquoise railings. The volunteers explained its restoration history with such pride that I couldn’t help but be impressed. It's a small residential gem tucked near the mission, yet feels so remote. Nice historic building in downtown San Fernando. The structure is adobe - which was invented by indigenous Californians - and the style is nouveau American/Mexican-Spanish Colonial (the building was constructed in 1882 - California became part of the US in 1850). But the mixture of styles is what makes the structure so interesting.
