What I remember is from 30 some years ago it was an empty. Lot of weeds I was one of the Castro homeless people who knew it as the one place we could sleep away our depression hunger and loneliness .but then there was a story in the bar it was about making it so homeless people wouldn't hang out there and they had a contest for members of the community to come up with a design that's I believe where th idea of the stone pillers and rose bushes came from to keep the homeless out they quickly called it a memorial and that's how it came to be it's sick that the Castro has had an underlying hate for the homeless this whole time and it yet is to be addressed be Shure to mention this to the anti homeless tour folk while cruising the Castro they've been around for 30 years but won't agree with what I say ps I'm...

Read moreThe Pink Triangle Memorial Park is a small memorial park in the Castro. It has succulents, roses, and other flowers. It is wholly maintained by donations and volunteer labor.
I didn’t realize how tiny the park was, and wedged between roads. I wouldn’t call it peaceful for that reason, but it’s important to have such memorials.
