Castro Nail Salon — Local services in San Francisco

I have been going to Castro Nail Salon every three weeks or so, for almost 8 years now. I rely on reviews, and experiences of others, but have not written one for this business yet, so, here goes:

In my experience, the staff has been nothing but absolutely professional in talking to customers, making appointments and providing service. I have never been asked for a tip (of course I do because it is customary and also too appreciate their work). The staff is also in a happy mood and with upbeat music playing in the background. I settled on this Salon after going to several others in the Castro area and continue to go here every 3 weeks although I moved out of San Francisco and live in the peninsula (4 years now!). Got a leg/bikini/underarm wax. The entire service hurt so much, not normal for me but I figured more hairs were getting pulled out. The service was rushed and I didn't get a chance to look at the results, so I tipped a $20 since the lady gave me a "discount" on my underarm service. Came home to realize none of the hairs were pulled from the root, all the hairs were broken. Went through all that pain for the results of a shave. Also, all the prices she quoted for me were higher than what was listed on the brochure (that is a mistake on my part, I should have done more research. So now on my vacation to Portugal, I had to bring a razor and wax strips, which I was trying to avoid in the first place. Never ever coming back here again, wish I could...

Small business. Friendly, but rushed so they don’t pay attention to detail. I went there for my first time by appointment. I thought everything was fine until a couple days later when I really looked at my nails and noticed that the way it was clipped looked quite awful and it wasn’t filed evenly. I also thought my nails were buffed well, but no, it was just the glue from for my Halloween costume that didn’t come off entirely that they tried to scrape off, but didn’t get it all. Now I regret leaving a big tip. I don’t think I will be revisiting this salon. It was...
