Payne Avenue Friendship Park — Attraction in San Jose

Incredible neighborhood park brand new in April 2024. There are 2 covered picnic areas, one of which is reservable on the San Jose Parks website. Small field, exercise equipment, half basketball court, and a community garden. The playground is wonderfully themed like a garden with adorable details like a general store, games about food, a giant tractor, tomatoes you can climb on, a caterpillar you crawl through, and a carrot balance beam. There's 1 accessible slide in the toddler area and 3 slides (two of which are doubles) on the big-kid structure. Only 2 toddler swings, no big kid swings. Not as many challenging climbing options so overall I'd say this playground is best for a younger crowd, but we see families of ages there. A bit of shade for the sunny days and lots of seating for parents. It gets pretty busy on the weekends and weeknights before dinner time. Very lucky to call this our neighborhood park! This is a new, fun farm/garden themed neighborhood park! The entire play area is gated off with benches along the inside. There are two main play structures (one geared towards younger kids/toddlers and one geared towards old elementary age kids) with slides, climbing structures, and interactive play sections. There are two bucket toddler swings, a spinning merry-go-round like seat, a climbing tractor, and a caterpillar tunnel as well. A community garden is next to the playground (with a few designated parking spots for gardeners), a grass field, and two table areas.
