people are rude as hell! I asked if I can taste the sauce and she started hopping and stood there and and gave me this screwed-up look and I told her I'm serious I'd like to taste one of the sauces she said fine and huffed a couple of times and let me taste the sauce. I chalked it up as her having a bad day. I ordered my food and when I paid for it the girl ran off and my bottle of soda with warm I got a huff when I asked for a cold one and then they did not want to give me a bottle opener. One of the workers was sitting at table and I leaned over and asked who's the manager and she said I am. I pointed out every single table was dirty with Fish and Rice on them and asked if I can get a clean table. She went in the back then set back down at the table by five minutes later a little girl came out with a balled up towel and just move the Fish and Rice around on the table and did not even knock it off the table........ I leaned over to the manager and ask if I can get a bottle opener and she said I'm on my break leave me alone and look back at the guy in front of her that she was flirting with........ these people were so obnoxiously rude it was surreal! I would love to come back in here with a camera and show the owner. On the real there is enough of these places where I would highly advise just go to another one people that don't like their job don't do food right and I'm scared I'm going to get sick. Also this was the most expensive one of these places I've ever been to they...
Read morePoke is a Hawaiian dish that’s similar to sushi, except that it’s a usually a rice bowl base with fresh salmon, tuna, octopus, or shrimp or pre-marinated garlic oyster tuna, spicy tuna, and spicy miso salmon for your protein. They also recently added chicken. This place has pre-made bowls or you can build your own bowl with different size options. You can add a free scoop of crab salad. The seafood is consistently fresh. You have the option of having sushi rice, brown rice, zucchini noodles, or a spring mixed greens as your base or any combination of these items. There are a lot of mixed toppings, like edamame, green onions, cucumber, and hijiki seaweed, and avocado. Add in your choice of 7 different dressings/sauces and finish it with toppings like masago, furikake, sesame seeds, and/or crispy onions. Prices for each bowl are about $10-12, and the portions are generous. They have added hand rolls to their menu, too. We’ve tried a few different poke places in the Bay Area. This is one is our family favorites. We are Five Star patrons of this spot, which young can earn bonuses like free sides, a drink, and even a size upgrade. The restaurant isn’t that big inside, but you can usually/easily find a table for 2-4 people. They also deliver...
Read moreJust look at how beautiful the bowls look with the hijiki seaweed sprinkled on top. The portions are huge and I love how zucchini noodles are an option for the base. I am very partial to zucchini noodles, particularly ones in marinara sauce with spaghetti squash noodles as well, but I digress. Here, I usually do 1/2 and 1/2 with sushi rice.
For protein, they have some saucy fish like "spicy miso salmon" and "garlic oyster tuna" which I never had, as well as regular stuff like "spicy tuna".
The mix-in options are plentiful. Personally, I am good with any place that offers the two fruits, pineapple and mango. Some more unorthodox stuff like grape tomatoes will keep you feeling healthy too.
The only troubling thing is that you have to pay extra for seaweed salad (if you build your own bowl), which is understandable but there are still places that offer it for free. There are other bowls with preselected options that include seaweed salad, just so you know.
I can’t really discern if the fish is fresh because I am not that picky when it comes to this. However, I have never gotten food poisoning, and I have ordered it a number of times on DoorDash because it is very affordable with the deals they offer on that...
