This club is not a safe place for women. I have been coming to this location for over 10 years off and on. I have been a member of LA Fitness for close to 20 years. On Easter Sunday, a male employee Monty was yelling throughout the club, minutes before the club was actually closed. There were three women including myself showering in the women’s locker room. As I entered the women’s locker room after getting out of the shower, I heard Monty, who is actually a sales guy yelling that the club was closed. He then proceeds to the women’s locker room, yells and enters the women’s locker room at the same time. I was standing there with nothing on, and trying to keep my towel up which was now partially covering my lower half. Monty saw everything. He then does a double take and looks twice more to be sure that he is seeing an undressed woman standing inside of the women’s locker room, as if he was shocked. I’m not sure why an undressed woman in the women’s locker room before closing would be a shock to him or anyone else. This was totally unacceptable and inappropriate behavior. He never called out into the locker room or waited for a response before entering. He just walked right in to the middle of the women’s locker room yelling, while I was in there undressed and another woman was still in the shower. This is unjustifiable behavior. I have had a similar incident happen like this before at LA Fitness with another male member that watched me as I was showering, and it was not taken seriously by the same operator and manager Jay. This location constantly has missing ceiling tiles in the changing areas of the women’s locker. It took years for them to finally fix that issue somewhat. There are still holes in the ceiling in the women’s locker room. They do not seem to care or take seriously the safety or privacy concerns of paying women members. This clubs is also always disgustingly dirty and short staff, with broken equipment. The issues that others have posted about this location are still the same with bad plumbing, broken sinks, broken equipment, and uncleaned gym. At this location, over the years they seem to employee men who are extremely aggressive and rude at closing. These men actually work on the sales team, and appear untrained, rude, and aggressive when interacting with paying members at closing time. This owner operates both of the clubs in this area, and the bad reviews are the same for both locations. The employees post fake reviews to increase ratings and memberships. The equipment is always broken. They try to sweep complaints like mine from other women under the rug, and do nothing to truly resolve the issue. At no point should their male employee have walked into the women’s locker room unannounced, and hardly before the club was actually closed without using good common sense. His actions were intentional and deliberate. Minutes before the membership salesman Monty entered the women’s locker room, he was talking to women who were still in the pool area. He told them the club was closing soon. I heard him while I was showering. He knew those women exited the pool and entered the women’s locker room. He was aware that there were women still in the gym and locker room before he walked into the women’s locker room. Monty...
Read moreThe gym used to be nice and clean, gone are those days. I used to go here every weekday until end of last year. I went back last week and there were no regulars from back then, except 2-3. Workout Equipments: The cable machines are run down and have not been maintained. The weight bars are always in short supply because the trainers use them for their personal training clients and do not put them back. There are 3 flat bench press units and 2 of them are missing bars at any given time. If you are here for free weights training during peak hours 6-8 am and 5-7 PM you will wait atleast 5-10 minutes on a bench because there simply are not enough to accommodate the volume of people that use this gym. 5 benches infront of the dumbbell rack and 2 rotating benches around the Smith machines. 2 squat rack and 1 cage that can be used for squats as well. You will wait longer when the trainers put their clients on these machines instead of confining them to the "training area". People: Most people that come to this gym lack proper gym etiquette and leave dumbbells and weight plates on the floor and not put them back. This is a huge trip hazard. Good luck finding that 2nd dumbbell when you need them. The management is very bad in enforcing these. Wok out area: If you like working out in humidity and musty smell you will love this gym. I was here at 5 am and you can feel the humidity in the air already. There are no ceiling fan to circulate air. They have 2 small oscillating unit for the entire gym that is only effective up to 6-8 feet in distance. I highly doubt their a/c unit is up to par for the size of this place. Showers & bathroom: One of the most dusguisting I have seen in any la fitness. The pipes around the urinals are rusted and so are the dividers between the urinals. The shower curtains, tiles and the ceiling have mold. The shower curtains are old and has holes and rips. I noticed some degenerate had spit out gum in the shower stall that I had to use, on Monday; come back Friday to use the same shower and that piece of gum was still there. I would not recommend using any public showers without sandals or some foot protection but, I dont think even those will help you against foot fungus here. The sauna doesn't feel like it has ever been cleaned and smells like urine. The gym is at a great location but it's a shame how the management has let it get run down. I wont be going back here...
Read moreBeen going to this gym for two months now and I’m not impressed or renewing my membership when it expires. The equipment is generally OK. However, I have a few complaints regarding this location. Pardon my rant.
First off, the men’s locker room needs more attention than a broom and a mop? I’ve seen four grown cockroaches (yep) in two months and the shower stalls are old and disgusting.
Second, I have a huge problem with female attendants in the MEN’S LOCKEROOM. Some guys might be OK with this, but I ain’t one of them. Their policy is to announce themselves EACH TIME before entering and put up signs that state a female presence. However, I have witnessed on two occasions, the female attendant who works in the early morning, enter without announcing her presence. I refuse to strip down naked with the opposite sex walking in will nilly and getting an eyeful. Spoke to the manager Monty (who only says what you want to hear) at this property about it initially and he said that it was due to the male attendant being sick and that is why she was there. However, that male attendant came back and she’s still up in the cave every morning (???). I just do not strip down in the locker room anymore because of it.
Thirdly, front desk attendants need to be um, more attentive? I was in there one morning and a homeless guy walked past the desk because the attendant was not paying attention. She had her head down (not sure why). He ended up in the men’s locker room. I reported it to the desk and the police were called to remove him..
Fourth. Why are the vending machines always empty?
This is not a good location will...
