There is another more popular place around the corner (based on reviews online), but it was packed out and the digital menu was broken so I walked over to Los Pinos instead. It felt much more authentic, like an actual restaurant you might visit in Mexico. Prices were reasonable, food was pretty good, although I didn't really love the shaved steak on my tacos (didn't taste fresh). Overall, a nice place to stop.

Delicious and fast Mexican in downtown Santa Cruz. I got the al pastor regular burrito, my partner got the carne asada regular burrito, and we split an horchata. Everything came out very quickly and was delicious. The al pastor and carne asada were cut into small pieces so they were easy to eat in the burritos and there was a lot of meat mixed in with the beans, rice, and cheese.

I hoped the place had a better flavor. I have tasted better. OK, my wife liked the "Camarones Diabla", but I didn't care to much for the "Chile Relleno and Enchilada" I had. But good to watch sports and friendly service. 😉👍

So they used to have a burrito dorado. I asked the guy if they still had it and he said "Oh that's the chimichanga." I was like weird, it wasn't at all like a normal chimichanga but ok. He could have just said "I haven't worked here that long" or "I have no idea what you're talking about" but he went with the confident wrong answer instead. What he gave me 20 minutes later was a traditional chimichanga, which differs massively from the burrito dorado they used to have in that it's not portable and is all wet and requires utensils and a flat plate. So the rest of my evening, which was to be mountain biking to meet friends in the forest and have burritos, was pretty much shot. I ended up just driving and hiking to the meeting place and not mountain biking at all to avoid sloshing this wet chimichanga all over my backpack. And now I feel like they owe me a burrito dorado. Also the carne asada tasted more like pollo asado. With los pericos so nearby and tasty and a little cheaper I don't really recommend it, unless you're looking for traditional American family restaurant Mexican food in a quiet...

The secret is, this is the best mexican food around. The machete taco is the signature dish, but there are plenty of other good things on the menu. Ask for some green hot sauce, some salt and get at least two machete and a bottle of coke; you won’t regret it. I particularly think they do beef well here. I’m pretty sure the family that runs this place is from Isla Janitzio in Michoacán and they are honestly just the sweetest people. Don’t just get the same things as you would at some of the other popular taquerias locally that are Mexico city style. I ate here about once a week for over a decade and having moved away I...

Today I went in with my family and all I have to say is BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, worst experience. There was 7 of us and we didnt fit in one table so we asked if we can put together two tables together but were rudly told, "no,no,no!". Apart from that the waitress and who i presume was the owner's son, were giving us attitude the whole time we were being "tended" to. If one is having a bad day, that shouldn't be noticeable when one is working, specially when your job is one-on-one customer interaction. To sum it up the food wasnt good enough to be putting up with...
