The produce is fresh...the vendors nice...the baked items are good. So Why two stars? This is what is posted on their website..."The Market is running at 25% of maximum capacity. We also monitor the market and make sure social distancing of 6ft is upheld and no gatherings of any kind take place."
Having been there yesterday THIS IS 100% FALSE!! There is NO ONE keeping count. There is NO SOCIAL DISTANCING! NONE! Several people (including vendors) were wearing their facemasks wrong...not covering their nose.
During this period of COVID cases increasing it is your choice. My choice is not to go again.
I wish the Farmers Market would do what they claim.
I lowered my rating to ONE star based on the reply from the owners. Let's review...
"Hi Mark, I'm sorry that you felt this way about our market. We do monitor the market flow and are never more than 25%. We don't physically count each customer but our maximum 25% capacity of customers is around 300 which seems like a lot but the market takes up a huge amount of outdoor and indoor space. There is never that many customers at the market at one time. The Market staff is constantly monitoring social distancing and moving people along if they stop to chat. We are NM COVID Certified and take pride on being one of the safest places to shop. Please come again. I think you might have a different view next time."
How do they monitor the market flow? There was NOT ONE PERSON monitoring. Plus there are multiple entrances and exits that are not monitored at all. The market staff was monitoring social distancing? I guess they took the day I was there off. There was NO ONE MONITORING SOCIAL DISTANCING. There were groups of people congregating and talking like it was 2019. No one moved them along. If the Santa Fe Farmers market is one of the safest places to shop I definitely do not want to find out what is worse.
Okay then. You can believe what I saw and witnessed (and I have no dog in this fight) or you can believe the owners of the Farmers Market who have a vested interest in folks shopping there.
Just to be clear...once there is a vaccine I will be more than...
Read moreAll my life I've painted Northern New Mexico landscapes. Usually It would just come out when it was necessary, it was like therapy, it had to come out! As I grew older I became more aware of my art. I never showed it or thought anyone would like it. I've been coming to the RAM,( Railyard Artisans Market) for 6 months now. It took some courage to put myself out there and show my work after 50 years of painting, never really knowing why I painted. The Railyard Artisans market gave me a place to show my art. Some people like it, some love it, and others don't . So every other Sunday, I get to come and show my art and be a part of something bigger than me, something I don't control. A place that gets me out of my natural environment and gives me the opportunity and ability to show a side of me I've never been willing to show. I've had a very positive experience. It was a good place for me to get my first exposure to show my work. Although I'm not there anymore, you should come and check it out every Sunday. The artists here are amazing, everybody here is an artist. You will find something you love, whatever that may be. Have fun and be kind. These are pictures of...
Read moreThis is a delightful experience. Vendors offer fresh produce, locally grown. Live plants, harvested fruits and vegetables, meats from beef, lamb, buffalo, and yak are available from locally sourced providers. I find artisan breads, flavored goat cheese, flowers and exotic mushrooms varieties. Heirloom tomatoes, Anasazi and other distinctive beans are available. Roasted green Chile in season. Craft soaps and textiles are just some of the offerings. This morning I purchased red Devon (scottish breed) beef as well as a yak chuck roast and yak liver. You can coordinate with the vendors via email and reserve cuts of meat. I have reserved yak and beef oxtails, tongues and sweetbreads. There are often musicians playing around the venue. There is a knife sharpening service that is reasonable. The farmers market is located next to the Santa Fe termination point for the New Mexico railrunner. This train runs from Santa Fe through Albuquerque to Belen New Mexico. Across the tracks from the farmers market is a selection of craft vendors locally producing and selling rustic furniture, high end leather fashion, etc. Definitely...
