The sky is the limit for trying new coffeehouses!
While exploring Santa Fe, Cassey said there are a ton of coffeehouses to pick from. She said there was this little one next to the train station that has a UFO next to it that she thinks I would like seeing, so we headed that way!
Sky Coffee is situated close to the Santa Fe Railyard and is a quaint little coffeehouse. Cassey and I popped in after walking around downtown after eating at Cowgirl BBQ. Having a full belly meant I needed fuel for the continued exploring we were planning to do.
The barista behind the counter was very nice and apologized for trying to take a call from her doctor while making us coffee. That didnât bother me having worked in customer service for 15+ years and her sense of urgency on the phone with the doctor made it seem pretty serious. More important than getting my americano right away.
After apologizing profusely and making our drinks, we headed out and kept exploring the town. The americano was pretty good, if not a bit smaller than I expected but for the price ($3.75), it was a steal. I wouldâve gladly paid more for a bigger serving though. Right after we left, Cassey had to take a work call so I used that time to take a lot of photos of the UFO, which you can see one of them below.
If you need a small and quiet coffeehouse before riding the trains, Sky Coffee could be the place for you. Do keep in mind the interior doesnât have the most seating so if your party is more than 2, seating may be a struggle. Also, they have stickers for $2/each if you are a sticker fanatic like me. One last note, they are a cashless business so keep that in mind if you...
Read more3 times that i went in, the staff had this tepid air about them and did not greet us/me when looking at me in the eyes(!). Hard to describe and i don't recall the last time i felt this in a business. It was an odd mixture of being sized up, wondering what to expect from me and... sort of that look you get when you're not a cool kid and arrive at a party. No joke! It was weird. I really don't recall the last time i entered a business and felt that... 3 TIMES IN A ROW. As for the coffee and espresso drinks? The beans they use for all of this are average at best, the barista skill is alright though! It's not the baristas fault the owner skimps on beans. The customer experience, the interaction with staff is my main gripe... and the quality of the bean. Of note, I really do know what I'm talking about. 1988 is when i first learned to barista for Ron Gempel (Gemple?), the 1st American winner of an international barista competition at The Daily Scoop (cafe). My side gig is as a supervisor at a cafe currently. Take what i say as unbiased and fair,...
Read moreI pass by this place nearly everyday and often wonder why it's hardly ever busy. I stopped in for a bite and now know why it's hardly busy. The interior is a stark white. I was blinded and nearly ended up with a migraine. So bright that my interior pic didn't come out cause the highlights were blown away. The service help is uninterested, aloof, not helpful. I bought the tiniest pastry. Pathetic employee didn't even know what it was and called it "something". Not much choice. Literally half the size of a deck of cards and half as thick. The aftertaste of this snack left a taste in my mouth that made me think it was made from margarine or some other poor quality oil. It cost way too much and service person didn't even say a word after asking for payment. Vibe was awful and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Sky coffee...only thing related to sky is it's sky high prices. Not returning not...
