(Go to bottom for TLDR) I give an average rating because for a city I feel that has a dearth of local ice cream shops, the selection was underwhelming and the ice cream nothing amazing. The mint chip was good (and no funky green dye!), but I really wanted to try the Blackberry Goat Cheese on the board, but it was only on the board as an upcoming flavor. They have some quirky flavors (BBQ, Green Chile) and some basics (Vanilla, Mexican Chocolate), and just about as many sorbets as ice cream, which I found odd given that the name literally means, "the dairy" and the logo is a sugar skull cow. I'm all for having lactose-free options, but there weren't, like I said, many flavor options for ice creams to begin with. Also, when I asked for a single scoop, it was put in a cup without asking me if I wanted a cup or cone. :-( Granted the poor kid was the only one there, so I figured they were understaffed and I was not going to push the issue.
Pros: you can get a flight (4 single scoops) for the fam (or yourself!), fresh ingredients, cute logo vinyl sticker for $1.08, lactose-free options
Cons: the "ice cream sammy" is one scoop of ice cream (4.50) and two cookies (2.50) You can order each of those things for less than the price of the sammy ($10)...? Also, small portions,...
Read moreSuch a gem in such an amazing spot! My siblings and I came here after dinner for a quick treat and we loved every bite we ate! My sister and I shared a flight and my brother got I think an espresso icecream? He loved it, and my sister and I loved every single flavor we had! The fact that it is homemade is a huge plus, but the flavors are so cultural and embrace all of what New Mexico is- pomegranates, green chilies, rum raisin etc.. How cool is that!? There wasn’t a single flavor we disliked, and based on the crowd that was there when we were, I have a feeling they might agree! The line was out the door and progressively increased over the 45 minutes or so that we were there. There is a variety of seating on the inside, and maybe 4 tables outside. I definitely wish there were more tables outside, but with surrounding businesses, I’m sure they do the best they can in accommodating the large crowd! I highly recommend going, and even if you have a lactose intolerance, definitely check it out and see if there are any vegan options or sorbets! Will definitely be back, especially on market days should we ever be...
Read moreLa Lecheria's innovative and artistic minds have transformed sorbet into a Santa Fe staple. Never have I ever said that's good blue cheese. The BBQ chip was exactly what I magined, but then came the Prickly Pear Margarita...and I have fallen in love all over again. There's a little punch of tartness but still maintains the sweetness and love that it was made with. I had to grab two of Eldora's Artisan Crafted Dark Chocolate: "Single Origin" and the "Zesty Mango Pinon" I could stare at the wall all day with beautiful works of @cmerlynart. Thank you for brining inspiration to my life. I cannot wait to bring my family. La Lecheria is cross the street from the Train Station and is a great option for those who are waiting to get on the road, while also having the ability to charge your smart device. Much love to Joel, Amy and the rest...
