I want to start by saying that I only write positive reviews. But, I think it’s important for people to know when there are issues as well. First of all, the sweet man who checked us in wonderful. He went over the whole map and gave us recommendations of what to see and where to eat. The rooms are very authentic and nice. Here’s where the problems started. We are traveling cross country and are staying at the most historic and charming Inns that have character that big hotel chains do not. We chose this hotel for the rooms and location. The location was amazing. We could walk everywhere. Which we did right away as we only had one night to see as much as we could. When we got back to the room we noticed a big gapping hole in the left bottom of the door. Creatures could definitely get in if they wanted and we could hear everything outside. During the night the wind was howling so bad along with other noises that we couldn’t sleep. I have video so I can prove that I am not being dramatic. As if that wasn’t bad enough. We were on the bottom floor and the people above us (which the manager swears didn’t exist) again we have video of them walking the the whole length of our room. It sounded like elephants stomping and this went on through the night and morning. They when they flushed the toilet (which isn’t their fault, people do have to go) but the sound was so loud it would wake my husband up. (I was already awake from it) A couple times it started gurgling in our toilet. So with the combination of those three things it turned what should and could have been a great stay into not being able to get any sleep and ruined our stay. The worst part is, I went to speak to someone to address the issues and it happened to be the manager. She was one of the most rude and uncaring individuals I have ever met. Not one ounce of sympathy. She said I’m the ONLY one who has ever complained. That it is a historic hotel and that’s just how the plumbing goes. I said it’s supposed to be so loud it keeps people up? And she said it was a windy night. Well, yes. That’s not rocket science but I’m pretty sure that if the whole in the door wouldn’t have been there. The cold wind would be coming through all night as well as the awful sounds. It was in the 40’s and nothing would stop that cold wind coming in our room so we were freezing. She did not care. offered nothing but excuses. No compensation. I’d expect more out of manager. I worked in customer service my whole life and would never have treated someone that way. Good luck if you choose to stay here. Hopefully you don’t encounter her and get the sweet...
Read moreSanta Fe can be a daunting place to plan a visit because of the high prices for lodging.|Pueblo Bonito Inn may not be cheap -- our small queen room was $232 night before taxes and fees -- but the price was fair at an inn that delivered cozy, stylish lodgings with free parking within walking distance to the center of Santa Fe. We found it to be a good base for our four days & nights in this enviable city.|Pueblo Bonito is a refurbished & updated old adobe apartment complex. Its solid old bones have been preserved, while numerous modern amenities have added some New Mexico flair, including colorful comforters and bedding, decent bathrooms & amenities, a desk for sitting and a larger-than-usual little refrigerator stocked with several free bottles of water (a nice touch since opening a frig and seeing charges for bottled water is not a cheery welcome to a place).|Numerous tables and chairs are scattered around Casa Bonito's well-kept grounds for picnicking, reading or just enjoying good weather. The place is nicely lit at night with decorative luminarias shining atop the roofs.|We found one oddity about the place -- Casa Bonito has the distinct air of a well-tended Bed & Breakfast except no breakfast is offered. The large lobby area has an array of free, mostly sugary snacks and granola bars, along with free coffee and tea, but these are a far cry from a real breakfast.|We overcame this flaw with daily trips to the nearby Sage Bakehouse, where choosing what to pick among so many tempting items provided a sweet quandary at the start of the morning. Sage has great coffee drinks of all kinds, too.|Two other neighborhood attractions deserve praise. Just across the street is a welcoming brewpub outlet for the popular Santa Fe Brewing, complete with outdoor seating on a large patio and an adjacent food truck.|The imposing circular State Capitol Building, little mentioned in tourist info, is open to the public two blocks away and features a not-to-be-missed collection of work by New Mexico artists crowding every nook and cranny of the spotless Capitol. This is a veritable art museum of its own with no admission charge.|Our stay at Pueblo Bonito was greatly enhanced by the friendly staff, from the office to the cleaning crew. Sam in the front office was a font of Santa Fe info, marking up a large free map with notes and directional arrows of places to visit as soon as we arrived. This was the sort of personal welcome to a lodging that is long remembered by guests.|It set the tone for our enjoyable stay at this fine...
Read moreWe had recommended this place to some family that were in town for a few days. They found it quite charming, even though the bedroom and bathroom were quite cramped. Our biggest complaint would be the parking. It is limited, but adequate for the facilities. We pulled in on the first morning to pick up our visitors, and we saw two “guest” parking spaces. One, which was occupied also had a sign posted that declared “do not block dumpster”. The only way to park in this space would be to block the dumpster. Our only obvious choice was to use the only other guest parking, which would have blocked in the other car that occupied the previous mentioned space. Since we were only there to pick up our guests we pulled forward into an empty parking spot in front of their room. This was around 10:30 in the morning, and there were several empty spaces. We went in to greet our guests, and they wanted to show us their charming accommodations. We were there no more that 10-15 minutes before we all left for brunch. Upon leaving I found a nasty note taped to the window on my vehicle informing me that I was not a registered guest, and not authorized to park where I had parked, and threatened consequences. Did I mention there were other available spaces, and that we were ther no longer than 15 minutes? We were in view of the office, if they saw my vehicle from their position, then they saw we were visiting, very briefly, guests of their place to whom WE recommended Pueblo Bonito. I found this note quite unnecessary and aggressive given the brief time we occupied the space, as well as the options for guest parking mentioned previously . I understand that parking is limited, and that they want to insure that their guests have parking. Had we parked there for an hour or more, I would understand a polite informative note. We will not ever again recommend this place, as there are so many more choices in town to send guests where we have not been so hastily treated as...
