Except for the exceptional paintings by Agnes Pelton of the Transcendental Painting Group I could have passed on this museum, except to reaffirm that I am not a fan of contemporary art. I mean, I am glad that the entry was free courtesy of the patrons who built it for all to enjoy. That is commendable. The exhibition labels for various pieces were written in such wordy academic art-speak it bordered on parody. The building is beautifully designed and both large enough to feel like you've had a substantial visit, yet small enough not to be overwhelming (give yourself 1-1.5 hours if you include a stop at the lovely little gift shop). The staff are warm and welcoming, always happy to answer questions about the art and artists.
