I really want to like them for the convenience of 24hrs, but I'm not renewing my membership after the terrible quality and experiences with staff and no accountability after submitting complaints online as well. I even went as far as to email the district manager with no response or acknowledgement. The place is ALWAYS unkempt. I repeat what a previous reviewer stated that the floors are filthy and equipment filthy (wipe it down before you use it if you do go here). Often times the towel dispensers are empty. Staff at the desk is talking and doing things other than work. One staff member frequently is doing drawings on his tablet and not even aware of who is coming and checking in. I know because once I purposely didn't check in to see if he would catch it. Part of the reason this place is filthy is because they allow homeless people to become members. Listen, I have a heart and I understand a gym membership if you're homeless is cheap to be able to shower and be somewhere warm at night since it's 24 hours. I usually work out around midnight and have seen homeless people sleeping in the locker rooms and on equipment even. I think that would bother most people paying a premium price to use facilities. I once tried to tell the staff member (Seven) that there was a man sleeping on the equipment to which he stated that even if he woke him up then he would just fall back to sleep when he walked away so there's nothing he could do. I told him I felt uncomfortable and was concerned for safety due to previous experiences (this is before I knew homeless people could become members). His response was, "I've been attacked too. So?" Baffled by the lack of customer service and human empathy I left. I spoke to Terrence, the general manager, the next day. He was very nonchalant about it in my opinion. He offered no obvious ways to make me feel better about the clear disrespect I received. He said he would review the footage and have a meeting with the staff member. He did confirm that members could not sleep on equipment. But I have seen that same employee there since reporting it to the general manager and I never received follow up or an apology. It has removed all trust I had in the safety of the facilities and the etiquette that is expected of it. I feel like I'm paying top dollar to be a member at a 99cents store versus a Macy's or Target at least (I hope that analogy makes sense). I wouldn't recommend this place to any of my friends and feel embarrassed to take them here as a guest. I left complaints through the online complaint service about the horrendous experience and emailed their district manager hoping someone would make me feel better about the gym and possibly renew my membership in January. No accountability or real place to express concerns and it's a scary concept when there is no one holding anyone responsible.
Even considering filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about it.
Edit regarding reply from business: That is the same portal that I initially made two complaints on with no response. I just submitted a third. If you really are investigating please reach out to me personally to make it right. I will edit this review once you have done so otherwise I feel like your response is just for show to make it seem like you pay attention to the problems at this gym so that others think you are taking...
Read moreWhen I first started to working out in the 24-hour fitness, I like the huge parking structure and it was 20-25 minutes from my home. It's 24-hour open. you can come any time. (Before I am making decisions to get membership back in November and the la cienega location already give me appointment for the yearly membership in December 2nd via telephone because I got the final decision to move to new gym since I am transferring to university on fall 2023 and re-locate to another city) first night as a guest, everything is fine and the Santa Monica crew gave me tiny tour but one thing I noticed was basketball court. Pretty interesting! He didnât mention anything about basketball court. another thing, I noticed was the limited treadmill machines and only few stair-master machine at the second floor. ladiesâs locker room in first floor was fine because thereâs hair dryer but no swimsuit dryer. There was sauna and stream room where I can relax my mind (which was I feel better after 1 month I got sick in other gym at dtla. It was just environment of the gym that I never use to be) The machine that I use was fine to me because some of machines that are familiar with me from other gyms was same but some of them were different including the abdomen and for the chest press machine . I got home from the gym and sleep peacefully.
Day 1 as a 24 hour fitness member, I got tiny trouble with app from my home club in la cienega location but I figured out so quick on website by the help of la cienega location staff, they guide me how to use the app and how to use it especially in classes that I need to take. Yes, it is the bodypump class in Santa Monica location. Little update on the womanâs locker room. There was a woman homeless sleeping on the right side of the lockers where the hair dyers and changing area is. There's a nurti-shop on the right side and the guy who was taking care of the shop was friendly. Well, I'm still bring a powerbank just in case my phone dies. Only the gym needs is to gain the safety measures to the members and maintain the cleaness of the both locker rooms include the steam and sauna. make sure there is one male and one female on the front desk. just in case, there is something wrong with members. Well, I am still come to this location and the la cienega location because this is better compared to Monterey park location 30 minutes away from home and 35 minutes away from universal studios
La cienega is 5 to 10 minutes away from home but it is not 24 hours open. It consider close! similar to Santa Monica location and it was 23 minutes from home and 40 minutes away from universal. That's the time and distance difference between two locations
Pretty interesting and thanks to a lot of research. in addition to this. I am making sure that I do not have a lady stalker at these locations. Hopefully, cross fingers to me.

Read moreListen, I know a lot of people are complaining that it's busy here, but of course it is! It's a gym in Santa Monica, where the only other options are specialty gyms (e.g. spin/pilates studios, crossfit gyms, or some crazy thing with a float tank and cryotherapy--no joke) or super-expensive name brand gyms. The workers and residents of SaMo don't have many options for an inexpensive, all-inclusive gym like this one (i.e. pool, sauna, steam room, basketball court, plenty of racks, no cryotherapy [sorry]). This particular 24 also boasts Les Mills "The Trip", an immersive indoor cycling experience that is just hands down the most fun I've had cardio-ing in my life.
Additionally, the trainers are EXCELLENT. Read their credentials. These are top notch sisters and misters. Even if you don't think you need a trainer, give it a shot. Athletes have trainers. Bodybuilders have trainers. Trainers have trainers. So you don't think you need one? Trainers can push you to new levels, and sometimes all you need for some truly excellent gains or losses (depending on your goals) is someone to break you out of your routine. This isn't a fly-by-night, get-a-cert-online crew. I once overheard them have a full conversation on the pros and cons of a bicep machine, full of high-level jargon and understanding of how the body functions. They had a debate about bicep growth. These are serious, learned trainers ready to put you through serious work.
I have been going to the gym since I'm 12 and have had many, many, many trainers. Nobody has ever inspired me to push past whatever brain fog I had about legs and shoulders after some injuries the way JUSTEN has. The guy is talented, positive, and he really likes to educate his clients, which is so rare! I learned more with JUSTEN about how to continue to exercise around and assisting my injured joints than I ever have reading a million articles, going to a famous sports medicine institute, etc. He took the strong medical treatment I received (from a godsend of a local chiropractor, I might add--go see my other review), and helped me advance my routine in a way that won't trigger the same injuries. (THANK YOU, JUSTEN!)
Now back to address the complaints, if you want a gym that isn't crowded, you're in the wrong city, my friend. The west LA rule is "sharing is caring," and sharing machines has allowed me to meet some excellent "allies [for my health]" as Justen calls them.
It may be crowded, but I look and feel awesome for a 40-year-old because of 24 hr at 31st and Ocean Park (and if I could put this burrito and slice of pizza down, I would look awesome-er). Come lift with some of your allies! I will totally share my...
