I posted the review below yesterday and now have read the business's reply. So .... they are correct that one can get thru to a live person (which I just did to inquire about their indoor seating vs their plentiful outdoor seating), however the Option 4 on the phone to press in order to get through to someone is described as the Option for take-out and deliveries. Often the people who answer for take-out calls don't have the knowledge to answer other questions that an owner or manager (or receptionist) would have, and so as consumers we don't go around thinking "Take-out" options are "the way" to reach a knowledgable person who could answer non-frequent questions. In this instance it worked out, though, i.e., a friendly woman answered and took a moment (!!) to listen to my question and respond with helpful information. It's really not complicated for businesses to "be there" for prospective customer or regular customer inquiries, yet so many businesses nowadays try to save money (and frustrate potential customers) by not actually answering the phone. I'm glad I found the "secret" way to reach a live person at Society Kitchen (by pressing the Take-out option) AND that she took a moment, listened and replied thoughtfully.
Wanted to ask them a question regarding meeting 2 friends there. They don't answer the phone, They say on their outgoing greeting that they will respond only to FREQUENTLY asked questions in their outgoing message. Great, you just lost my business "forever" since you're in my neighborhood and I had wanted to try you, but I cannot and will not go to places that don't have the basic courtesy to be available for questions form paying (or potentially paying) customers. Riding high thinking you don't have to bother with this kind of BASIC customer service is why many restaurants get popular but then fail, It happens all the time because in the end, the customer should be valued not told that the business will only answer frequently asked questions and otherwise not have a phone number where the public and reach them. You'll see in time that you should have catered to your customers (to win many and to win the loyalty of the ones you have). Arrogance always brings its own downfall, Now we are looking for another place to meet, and than goodness, there are plenty of good ones to...
Read moreI wasn’t going to write a review, but I just feel like I have to say something. The service is ok, staff is friendly, for the most part. It’s a hotspot in LA, so you can expect it to be a little on the pricy side. That said, I find the prices of the lattes not being on the board to be predatory. They have a “lavender fog” drink, which is $11.50, “rosemary rise” which has matcha and a “sage spiced” latte with espresso, both are $12. When I asked if $11.50 was correct for the lavender fog, I was told it is because they are “signature drinks” and he tried to sell me on it. I was not too proud to say “I will take something else” and they then charged me a dollar more for a little bit of extra whipped cream for my churro French toast when I asked for it (which is not the most consistent dish I’ve ever had). I am honestly insulted by that up charge and the prices of the lattes not being posted amongst the in-store menus. The seating situation honestly sucks, there aren’t enough umbrellas during the day, and the a/c was blasting inside this morning, making the restaurant colder than outside. When it’s busy you have to hover for a table, and the food takes forever, even when they’re not insanely busy. The line for brunch on the weekend is absolutely unhinged and there has to be a better solution. This was somewhere I loved to come pretty regularly, but I doubt I will be back. They also forgot to put espresso in the ube latte this morning…. Also, the gentleman helping us this morning said the candied spicy bacon is so spicy he’s never seen someone finish the dish, glad I was warned or I would have been upset that I ordered something I...

Now, let's talk about the food – it's nothing short of outstanding. During my visit, I had the pleasure of trying their Egg Benedict, and I can confidently say it was the best I've ever had. The perfect poached eggs, the creamy hollandaise sauce, and the delectable combination of flavors left me speechless. Each dish I encountered was memorable, and the quality of ingredients was clearly a top priority for the chefs.
