Great place. Large green field to play soccer, run around or do other activities. You will see people doing outdoor workout, taichi, walking or jogging along the periphery. There are two basketball courts, Sandy play area for children with parents, water splash pad which is very popular among kids for summer.
There are a few rooms, such Thelma Louise Center, you can reserve for your private parties, gathering or other functions. Pico branch library, about three years new, is in the park and had a great all around view of park from inside the library.
Picnic benches and tables are at various places in the park. Public parking is available when you are visiting the park, along with free charging station for electric vehicle.
Park center contains park offices and a few rooms to hold various workout and educational classes. Schedules can be found at the park center office. There is beautiful mural on the outside wall of the park cent
Every Saturday, there is farmer's market in front of library from 8 am to 1 pm.
Nearby facilities include whole foods market 365, Rite Aid, Mann family health clinic, Santa Monica college, pizza hut, 99 cents store and Starbucks. Take big blue bus 7 on Pico Blvd to get there or take a walk....

There are meeting rooms, a library, picnic tables, barbeques, a playground, basketball courts, bathrooms and a walking path. Take your dogs (on leash), kids, grandparents, your whole family or a blanket and a good book. There are markets and restaurants nearby in case you wanna grab something to eat.
What they don't have is a tennis court, baseball diamond or a bunch of organized sports where uptight parents, overly competitive adults, and a bunch of kids take over the park. There's parking off Pico, Cloverfield and Virginia Park. The Santa Monica Blue Bus runs on Pico. The Expo Line isn't too far but I suggest getting off at Sepulveda and taking the bus down Pico. And if you should run into a group of homeless folks hanging out or having a barbeque, they are just having a good time like any other group of people. No need to be afraid. Maybe you could strike up a conversation. After all, they are your neighbors...
Read moreI Lovelace Park it has a library located in it it's the the Pico library. There's plenty of things for the kids to do. Plenty of activities go on in the library and in the park. There's always something going on at the park there's an activity center for the youth and in addition to that there's a farmers market that comes on Saturday mornings I believe. On the way to the park if you're coming from the West on Pico boulevard there's this mural that's their check it out. Virginia Park also has the branch of the Santa Monica public Library. There's a children's section in the as you walk into your left to the right you'll find some fiction books the library isn't as the library is down town.
