I recently visited the Sarasota Toy Museum and its attached retail gem, Moosehead Toys and Comics, and I’m still buzzing with excitement! If you’re a collector or just a fan of pop culture treasures, this place is an absolute must-visit. Their selection of collectibles, particularly the Invincible Premier Edition trading cards hobby box and their incredible range of Transformers figures, blew me away!
Let’s start with the Invincible Premier Edition trading cards hobby box. As a fan of the series, I was thrilled to get my hands on one of these at Moosehead Toys and Comics. The box was packed with vibrant, high-quality cards that perfectly capture the gritty, colorful essence of the Invincible universe. From rare chase cards to stunning artwork, every pack felt like a treasure hunt. The staff at Moosehead were super knowledgeable, guiding me through the box’s contents and even sharing tips on spotting those coveted variants. It’s clear they’re passionate about what they sell, which made the experience even more enjoyable!
Now, onto the Transformers figures—wow, just wow! Their selection of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, and Shockwave figures was nothing short of spectacular. Whether you’re into Studio Series, Masterpiece, or classic G1-inspired designs, they’ve got it all. I picked up a Studio Series Optimus Prime, and the detail on this figure is mind-blowing—movie-accurate sculpting, crisp paint apps, and smooth transformation mechanics. The Bumblebee figure I snagged was a perfect blend of G1 nostalgia and modern craftsmanship, while the Megatron and Shockwave figures had that menacing Decepticon vibe that makes them stand out on any shelf. The variety at Moosehead Toys and Comics caters to both casual fans and hardcore collectors, and their prices are competitive, especially for such high-quality pieces.
The Sarasota Toy Museum itself is a nostalgic wonderland, with an impressive collection of vintage toys and a jaw-dropping HO-scale model railroad that’s a showstopper. The museum’s passion for preserving toy history pairs perfectly with Moosehead’s retail side, where you can score modern collectibles like these trading cards and Transformers figures. The staff’s enthusiasm and expertise made me feel like a kid again, and they went out of their way to ensure I found exactly what I was looking for.

A great shopping experience for adults and kids and a great place to purchase unique gifts! The museum is full of nostalgia. They actually have the very first lunch box ever made. Rich, the owner, was so knowledgable and did a great job explaining the history of everything from dolls to cap guns, really cool banks, action figures, and I could go on and on! Now the train set, which is an understatement because it is huge, has to been seen and admired. Really amazing! Definitely worth the trip! We...
