Went here Saturday due to “moving sale” signs in window. Walked around with my husband and was engaging to all we encountered. Found three small items ( each under 22 dollars) and brought them to counter where we were met by senior lady with a loose bun of grey hair at the nape of her neck. I asked her if a painting marked for 300 dollars in a booth was negotiable and immediately she said “no”. I asked if she would look at the piece for a minute and we walked over and I asked if the seller might consider 225 dollars. She said no someone already made that offer this week.I said perhaps 10 percent off? Again I was told no. We returned to the paying counter and the lady then began to scold me saying “ you need to understand the seller only gets 50 percent of the sale” to which I replied “ I don’t think the sellers arrangement is any of my business” and she then said “ you need to show respect for the sellers and pay the price asked”. My husband asked if I wanted to sign the email list and I said no thank you.
What resale shop employee or owner scolds a polite customer about the “sellers contractual agreement”? One makes an offer and when it is declined you accept that and move on…and the store personnel treats customer with dignity.
I suspect we were targeted because of my accent…....
Read moreMake that a negative one star. I recently had the responsibility to liquidate my parents estate. Lisa At Bull Street came highly recommended by my realtor. Initial contact with Lisa the owner was good. She really knows furniture, antiques, collectables. What she has a problem with is inventory and sales reports. I realized I was in trouble when I asked for a beginning inventory with all the items numbered like I was seeing on the sales report. She didn't have that, couldn't provide that. All she had was sales reports. Ok so I had to go back to the original 7 pages of hand written inventory with no reference numbers just descriptions. Not to big of a deal except the descriptions were rarely ever the same. I told her it was virtually impossible to track what items were sold and what were remaining to be sold. She was doing the best she could was her response. We are talking about thousands of dollars worth of items she can not account for. Yes I am taking her to court. Lisa may be ok to use for a tag sale where you oversee the sale but I would never recommend you leave anything on...
Read moreWe've been doing business with Craig and Lisa since 2005 or so. They have good stuff. Prices like any business vary and may not always meet your budget and price points. However, we have several pieces we bought from them over the years and are very satisfied. Where Bull St. Estate really shines is after-the-sale service. Delivery excellent; pick up and delivery based on your schedule, after hours, etc; moving existing furniture when they deliver if needed; problems if any fixed promptly - you name it. They bust their butts for repeat customers.
We visited Bull Street's new location. Not quite as convenient as the old one for us. This makes no difference. We're not big customers by any means. We know they will take care of us, believe you can expect the same.
