I love our H-E-B Schertz, the employees are always friendly and helpful and take pride in their work and it shows. Exceptional selection of products and it’s minutes away so we go sometimes daily because it’s so convenient and always have what my family needs.
I wanted to share tho, it gets busy and parking is sometimes tight and hard to find. I wish the store manager would address with its employees to try not to park their vehicles in parking spots that are up close next to the store. I’m pretty confident that there’s probably guidance given for its employees to park in an area they prefer for their employees to park. I know I have gone and I see employees parking their vehicles in spots right next to the pharmacy. I would think if they are going to be at work they would leave the close parking for the customers who need to park close and not have to park where the employees park. If the store manager would just for one day take note of the vehicles parked next to the pharmacy, and how long they are there, and I’m pretty sure the manager would see it’s employees parking up close to the store. If I’ve noticed, I’m sure other customers have as well. And I could be wrong maybe it’s allowed for the employees to park up front and as close as they want leaving no parking for the customers. 🤷🏽♂️
04/06/2022: Wanted to provide an update, was hoping H-E-B would have looked into the matter. I did receive a response stating that the employee parking would be looked into. Was hoping to provide an amended review to say that H-E-B management did take this seriously, but sadly, I guess the customers concerns do fall on deaf ears, as nothing has been done, I’ve come to the store regularly after I received the response but nothing has changed. Oh well, I guess H‑E‑B management does not value input from its customers to help make it better for those who would like not have to park in employee parking so employees can can...
Read moreI try to avoid having to go grocery shopping. It is always so busy, and parking is crazy. I use to try and beat the crowds early morning, but that's not a choice anymore. This is a small HEB even for being a plus. So once inside the store I get to work. There is a particular greeter that is always super nice and genuine. I will have to get his name next time. The vegetables are always in pretty good shape as far as quality and freshness. Deli staff needs to improve their customer service skills, and tend to be purposely slow at attending to the customers. The meat section is stocked up at all times. The bakery is a good size. I just wish they had character cupcakes. The staff in this department tend to keep their heads down all the time. It wouldn't hurt them to look up every once in a while to greet and acknowledge a customer. My favorite part of the whole store is where they make fresh tortillas on a daily basis. My kids are always given fresh tortilla samples. The young man and lady who manage the tortillas have always been so nice. They make our trip to HEB worth it. I don't use the other departments in this HEB such as the pharmacy, flower, storefronts, or the customer service. Overall just try to get in and out.
Update 6/27/18 I discovered HEB has these Meal Simple packets. I thought they were awesome. I haven't tried them, because I cook in bulk as my family is big. I however think these would be a great option for single persons maybe just preparing lunch, or dinner for one. The price is not too high either. Awesome idea to have this option available for customers. It's cheaper than online providers that I have seen. I also first saw these Meal Simples available thru HEB curbside pickup and might be for delivery as well. Just wanted to...
Read moreThis store has food. That's about the most positive thing I can say about it. The aisles are too narrow, there are poorly placed end displays that block all movement through high-traffic areas, the parking lot is a disaster ALL THE TIME, and the deli counter...
Oh, the deli counter.
This store possesses the world's slowest deli counter, bar none. The past two trips to this store have both involved 15 minute-plus waits at the deli counter, with 5 employees working there. If the management were to hire a Continuous Process Improvement specialist, he or she would spend literally all their time at this one counter.
Two employees are invariably more concerned with preparing the prepackaged goods for the next day, regardless of the line waiting for service. They look around, acknowledge that there is a 10 person line waiting for deli goods, and go back to making baggies of ham.
The remaining three employees are moving without any motivation or urgency. Today, I timed one employee, who took over 3 minutes between finishing with one customer and taking the next order. In the mean time, he walked back and forth between two slicers, moved both handles, looked at the line, and then walked back and forth again, doing nothing. Although polite, the other two employees could not seem to move with a purpose - each slice took 15 to 20 seconds, and measuring the totals was a 2-minute process.
The really sad part about this is that it's not dependent on the number of customers at the counter. The service is just as poor if there are two people waiting or twenty. They just can't seem to get their acts together.
If at all possible, avoid this store...
