I guess I am getting old! I ate at the original Taco Cabana. I have watched them grown and evolve over the years. For a long time, Taco Cabana was the place to go after ... everything ... any event ... church, softball, movie, whatever! Food was great and prices were reasonable.
Unfortunately, it breaks my heart to say, but the good old day are gone. I have watched sadly over the last 30+ years as management has "improved" the menu to its current state of overwhelming disappointment.
Quality is terrible and prices are such that you would expect 5-star food quality Just not the case. I began going to Taco Cabana less and less over the last couple of decades because of the terrible service (take out service is notoriously inaccurate and missing items).
Yet still hoping and reserving memories of their past recipes and food quality, ever so often I go back, as I did just last week for lunch. Unfortunately, it remains disappointing.
I live in the Schertz area near the HEB on FM 3009 but regularly am in the New Braunfels and Live Oak area where I have tried out other branches.
Unfortunately, the problem is not the store. It is system wide! It is and has been problematic in every Taco Cabana I visit, regardless of location, especially in takeout accuracy.
About the only thing I find worth eating there is the bacon and egg breakfast tacos. They are not the greatest, or the biggest, or the cheapest, but they are at least average or better. I have had much worse. Sorry guys! I just can't recommend Taco Cabana anymore. I will probably drop in every now and then, hoping they have changed. But given the track record over the last 30+ years, I am...
Read moreFast, friendly service in the drive-thru! Food was hot, fresh, and delicious--this was my 1st time ever getting food from a Taco Cabana & I was very happy. =) I got the large-size Chicken Fajita Quesadilla & was not disappointed! The pico de gallo, sour cream & Guacamole came on the side in decently-sized cups that were packed completely full. The Guacamole was, admittedly, a bit chunkier than I would have liked (i.e. several large chunks of raw avocado; I prefer mine to be entirely mashed up), but it was flavorful & fresh!
The very best thing was, by far, the Soapapillas! I got a Large order w/Honey for the dipping sauce (it came with 2side cups of honey. But you can also get it w/sugar instead if you prefer.) & I absolutely devoured them after my Quesadilla, even though I was already pretty full bc the quesadilla was plenty big! Seriously, they were all gone in 5min, lol! Oh! Thats the other unique thing, in my experience: Usually, a sopapilla will come as 1 giant, piping hot pillow, dusted in cinnamon-sugar, with honey drizzled on top. However, at Taco Cabana, it comes as a box of multiple smaller pillows instead, which are absolutely perfect for dipping into the honey cups, & for sharing w/others!! No utensils needed to cut them into pieces. =D I've never seen it served this way, but it's incredibly brilliant & convenient & just as delicious as the original, larger form. If you haven't already given them a try, I'd highly recommend that you do! You won't be disappointed! (&Get the large order bc you'll def eat them all, even if you're...
Read moreHorrible service! If I could give them zero stars I would! We ordered twice from the Schertz TX location and both times it was a terrible experience. First time ordering, we only received a little over half of the entire order of food. We called the location and supposedly spoke to a manager in which was extremely unprofessional and rude. We did end up getting the rest of the food but was roughly 45 minutes later. Second time ordering and last time, we decided to give them one more chance hoping it was just an off day for them. Roughly 60 minutes after the estimated delivery time and not getting the food, we decided to call the location to see what was going on. The "manager" said our food was ready and would be out for delivery any minute. So thinking everything was good and we'd get our food, we gave it another 45 minutes however we never got the food. So we called back up the location and was advised that our order was canceled and the food was never ready. When asking the manager about making sure that we wouldn't be charged she advised that we had to go through doordash to get our money back. This should not fall on doordash since it clearly was Taco Cabana's fault. It was extremely difficult to even understand the manager and then she hung up on us after making excuses. BEWARE OF THIS LOCATION.... VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CANNOT BELIEVE THIS LOCATION IS...
