Located just a few miles beyond the Washington, DC border, the Goddard Space Flight Center Visitor Center is a hidden gem often overlooked by visitors and even some locals. It's a delightful surprise to discover this free and relatively uncrowded attraction, save for the occasional school group.

Delving into the exhibits, one is captivated by the center's rich history, tracing its involvement from the inception of NASA to the groundbreaking moon landing and the cutting-edge James Webb Space Telescope and Osiris-Rex missions. It's an eye-opening experience that unveils career paths in science and technology that many students may never have considered, such as heliophysics and astrobiology.

Despite its compact size, the visitor center is brimming with scientific wonders and interactive exhibits that engage visitors of all ages. From experimenting with plasma to exploring the astrobiology walk, there's something to spark curiosity and ignite a passion for science.

The rocket garden, showcasing rockets developed under Goddard's influence, could benefit from some rejuvenation, but the highlight of the visit remains the breathtaking Orbits Interweave sculpture. Its graceful presence against the backdrop of a clear sky is a sight to behold.

Overall, the Goddard Space Flight Center Visitor Center is a hidden treasure trove of scientific knowledge and inspiration, offering a captivating glimpse into the wonders of space exploration and the groundbreaking work of NASA scientists and engineers. It's a must-visit for anyone with a curiosity about the cosmos and the boundless possibilities of...

The NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, located in Greenbelt, Maryland, is an extraordinary place that offers a unique glimpse into the world of space exploration, science, and research. As one of NASA's largest centers, it is home to some of the most critical projects in space science and technology. My visit to Goddard was nothing short of inspiring, and it left me with a deep appreciation for the work being done by NASA scientists and engineers.

The Visitor Center at NASA Goddard is both educational and fascinating. It features numerous exhibits that explain space missions, earth science, and satellite technology. One of the highlights for me was the Hubble Space Telescope exhibit, where I learned about the history of the telescope and its amazing contributions to our understanding of the universe. The interactive displays are a perfect balance of fun and learning, making it enjoyable for all ages.

What really stands out at Goddard is the sense of innovation and discovery that permeates the entire campus. You can feel the excitement and passion of the people working here. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, always willing to share their expertise and answer questions.

For those with a love of space and science, this center offers an enriching experience. I recommend visiting during one of their special events, such as the annual open house, where you can explore areas that are usually closed to the public and even meet some of the people behind NASA’s most ambitious projects. It's a place that will leave you inspired and in awe of...

A mini-me version of the Air & Space Museum. Worthy of a short visit. Add it as a great out-of-the-city museum option (maybe as you are entering/leaving DC on your trip). We really liked it. For its little size, we were impressed at what it packed in - interactive exhibits, little games, videos and small rockets. We learned about satellites, the environment, CO2, the sun, space telescopes, space stations, etc. The elegant gentleman at the front desk was incredibly helpful, friendly and engaging. He made sure we all had a good time and learned along the way. There were a few large camp groups that dominated the videos/films. That was a mixed blessing for enjoying the visitor center. The small shop was worth a quick visit. Support this center that is free to visitors. Free/easy parking and simple driving directions. After all the intensity in and around the Washington museums, this was a welcome change of pace. A great 1 to 2 hour experience on a mostly rainy day when we...

This is a really interesting museum if you are at all interested in space. We spent about two hours here but could’ve spent much longer. There is both an indoor part of the museum and an outdoor section where you can see various rockets and space related items. I have very limited mobility and get around on a scooter. The museum itself was accessible and had accessible bathrooms. However, there is one area where you can go into an auditorium to watch various engineers talking about their specialty. I had to sit away from my husband because there was no where for my scooter to fit on the end of a row. Also, I could not navigate the gift shop with my scooter, it was just too small. Interestingly they had one of those buttons on the door that opens the door for those with mobility issues. Other than those two obstacles the rest was able to navigate with my scooter. The admission is free and the staff were really nice and helpful.
